NPF high drama continues : Key leaders urge Shurhozelie to 're-instate' Central Election Board' allegedly DISSOLVED illegally

NPF high political drama continues? Will NPF supremo Shurhozelie finally give in? Can his longtime lieutenant and a former Nagaland Minister Kuzholuzo Azo Neinu finally make it as a party chief?

Is NDPP also passing through tense moments or mere excitement to see an old friend and occasional foe's house burning?

Veteran Shurhozelie still calling shots

Senior leaders have now written a letter to Shurhozelie urging him to reinstate the Central Election Board, which they say was dissolved "overruling the majority members" and which is against the party constitution.

The signatories are P Shing Khiam, Changlenga Chang, Blaise Heilung, Akavi Sumi, Khamong, Nungsangyimba and Samuel Risom. If NPF is today caught in this big political controversy, there are several other issues wherein party hit headlines.

Recently, NPF Lok Sabha MP, Lorho Pfoze from Outer Manipur, backed the women quota Bill in the House of the people perhaps leaving many Nagas and watchers of Nagaland politics surprised.

"Empowerment is the need of the hour in this age. My Party, the Naga People's Front (NPF) supports this Bill," he said adding, "For equality and participation of women in all developmental and decision-making processes of the nation, women are equally gifted as men to deliver".

Pfoze further said, "Meira Paibis who are the torch bearers for women's associations of  various communities amongst the tribals have played a great role in preventing atrocities and attacks on human rights by armed forces and social cleansing by staging prohibition campaign against alcohol and drugs at local village levels.

"Good governance at villages have also been propagated by women force in those States," he said.

Pfoze's friend and colleague from NDPP (representing Nagaland state) Tokheho Yepthomi also supported the Bill.

"There is a lot of disparity in the State of Nagaland in respect of delimitation," said Tokheho Yepthomi of NDPP while backing the much talked about Women Reservation Bill.

"....... very soon, there is going to be delimitation in Arunachal
Pradesh and Nagaland. I want to know whether women's reservation is going to be implemented in those States where delimitation has been completed or due to be completed," he said in Lok Sabha.

Why and how two Naga MPs - one each from NPF and NDPP sailing on the same boat? There is another common factor both NDPP and NPF are key constituents of Hindutva-smitted Narendra Modi-led NDA.

Of course, Shurhozelie as NPF chief was invited for a mega NDA conclave in Delhi to be PM Modi's guest; the veteran regionalist stayed away from it. On the other hand, NDPP nominee for the meeting was Neiphiu Rio, Chief Minister Nagaland; and as expected he stole away the limelight!

Keeping close eyes on 'Cock' even as he presides over the fate of 'Globe' : Rio
