New Delhi/Dimapur
The taste of the cake is in the eating, and it is sheer testimony of our sincerity
and hard work that several predictions made by 'Nagaland Page' vis-a-vis election related stories have come true.
Perhaps this is why politicians will 'hate' the media and esteemed readers will continue to patronise the less pompous selfless journalism. The prediction about former Rajya Sabha MP K G Kenye trying for the Chizami seat was made
in November.
People mocked on social media and a key regionalist from Phek district questioned
our intent.
Kenye has not only made it to the NDPP list -- ironically also a regional party.
In fact, Kenye's pro-CAA stance in December 2019 came handy to beat a die-hard BJP man K Doulo in the ivory tower manipulation game.
Notwithstanding all 'analyses and denials', NDPP candidate from Pughoboto is a former NSF president Y Vikheho Swu.
Man with a 'charming personality', Swu made headlines for wrong reasons as another die-hard BJP leader Dr A Sukhato was forced to eat humble pie.
The sitting legislator is blue-eyed boy of Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio or people in Delhi will be judged by the turn of events, say a few skeptics in the Lutyen's city.
Former CM T R Zeliang dumped his compatriots of 2018 completely. The BJP's 'NDPP-appeasement' formula for Nagaland remains a big puzzle. But local skeptics are coming out with their versions and some of it could not be ignored completely.
One such refrain being, - "The secret is out. BJP and the Govt of India want to 'divide people' and this is why they have given undue indulgence to Neiphiu Rio".
You do not need rocket science to discover these. Just dial a friend in Eastern Nagaland, and he will say, "Eureka.... Rio asey, hoishey toh'.
A popular leader of 2003: Amid 'few mistakes' |
'Nagaland Page' has raised dynasty bogie vis-a-vis Kohima's powerful political structure. Yet again, this has been proved right. Rio's kin Zhaleo Rio is contesting from Ghaspani II. Dr Nicky Kire's Kohima town may also see one more 'family connection'.
Do not blame a young former NSF leader from Pughoboto only for the 'nexus' angle.
In Dimapur III, we had alerted the readers about 'Shadow boxing: Election season in Nagaland'.
Yes, our prediction was in September. Hekani Jakhalu Kense, whom Wikipedia calls a social entrepreneur,
has an Angami surname. This links her to Touphema village. She is also a sister of a well known
Air Force officer and that way linked to a top NSCN-IM leader.
Even one shopkeeper in Dimapur III told me, "Hekani's husband
is a Rio associate turned first class contractor registered during NPF regime under Rio".
Meanwhile, focus is shifing to a few names who missed out on both BJP and NDPP lists.
Former Speaker Chatise Sazo, Toyang Chang, Muthingyuba, Yitachu, Dr. Chotisuh, Azheto, Amenba,
Dr. Chumben, Yollow, Khumo, Namri, Dr. Longri, Picto, Zale Nyiekha, Thonwang, Kejon Chang, T. Yangseo
and Dr. Nganshi
Out of G-21 NPF defectors, Rio's NDPP obliged only 8.
The BJP list released by saffron party obviously tantamount to gross appeasement of
the NDPP -- for no solid reason or rhyme.
Some of us tracking BJP's poll strategies since 2002 in Gujarat to states such as UP, Karnataka
and West Bengal find the "rarest case of poll management" by the lotus party in Nagaland.
They are almost taking a 'liability' leader Rio with a strong anti incumbency against him as
the 'face of India's ruling party' in the state. Things have turned more 'disturbing'
for the Chief Minister due to assurance on Autonomous Council. Former CM K L Chishi
calls it 'fragmentation' of Nagaland. S C Jamir says Nagaland's image took a beating.
There was a unique combo at the BJP headquarters on Thursday. Nalin Kohli perhaps smiling more than he
could. And Ritutaj Sinha saying, "The people of Meghalaya are fed up with corruption and the slow pace of
development in their state. The people are suffering due to poor rural roads, power cuts".
'Sinha-logy' does not apply to Nagaland. Himanta wins and Sukhatos and Doulos have to
fight another battle.
The office of Lokayukta came in for a minor attention lately. But a flamboyant retired IAS officer misses
the bus at Mongoya. His brother Metsubo justified 'break up' theory and he gets ticket for Mokokchung town.
In July 2022, we said, in 2023 --- Nagaland could get a pleasant surprise -- after elections,
the NDPP may merge with the BJP.
If no one feels 'sad' about my death, where's the fun in playing a 'dead' ?
