Melania Trump visited a AAP-government school in New Delhi to attend a “happiness class" in the national capital. The initiative launched in 2018 is seen as a different from the run of the mill education syllabi in a system where over emphasis is given on bookish knowledge and this has often forced young children to stress.

Over the decades, Indian education system is known for its rigid emphasis on book and mugging knowledge, and thus the Happiness Classes have been hailed as a radical experiment. In general, the move has been appreciated by the people in general and AAP leadership feels the education sector of the party helped it record an emphatic win in just held Delhi assembly polls.

Melania was welcomed by students dressed in school uniform and also traditional Indian attire who garlanded her with flowers as many other students waved American and Indian flags. A young girl marked Trump’s forehead with colored powder - tilak - in traditional Hindu style.

Later on Ms Trump jovially waved and shook hands with many young boys and girls who were more than excited.
Earlier, she was escorted to a classroom where she interacted with young students and watched dance and yoga performances.

“It is very inspiring to me that the students here begin each day with practicing mindfulness,” Trump said in short remarks.
"In the U.S., I work with children to promote similar ideas of well-being."
