Kerala CM's stance on PFI, NIA cases come under BJP 'scanner'

New Delhi, Feb 4 The BJP is delighted as Left Front government in Kerala and Congress-Muslim League opposition clashed in the state assembly.

The saffron party on Tuesday said it is taking closer look at issues and the stance of the Left Front regime in Kerala vis-a-vis terror elements and Tukde-gang as the Chief Minister Pinyari Vijayan has turned down the Opposition Congress-led UDF demand that the state government take back the NIA cases against two CPI-M student activists.
"It is a curious development...., the Chief Minister of Kerala has many questions to answer," a party leader said.

Sources said the BJP will raise 'relevant issues' with regard the NIA cases and PFI 'money laundering' case in the ongoing Budget session of Parliament.

In an interesting development in Kerala assembly, CM Vijayan said some terrorists "operating in Kerala" have nexus with Maoists and therefore the opposition Congress and Indian Union of Muslim League (IUML) should not glorify such elements.

The Chief Minister also defended the NIA move to take over UAPA cases against two student activists of CPI(M) - Taha Fazal (24) and Alan Suhaib.

"On NIA cases, he has taken the right stance," the BJP leader said.

However, saffron party leaders feel there is lot to be 'probed' in Kerala as it has come to light that some key Popular Front of India (PFI) leaders are 'government employees in the southern state'.

"It is very precarious situation for the Chief Minister of Kerala....," BJP leader Tom Vadakkan said.

Mr Vadakkan is originally a Congressman - known for his closeness to Sonia Gandhi - and had joined the BJP only last year in the run up to the 2019 general elections.

BJP leader Tom Vadakkan said there seems to be a 'deeper crisis' emerging in Kerala with regard the PFI row as one PFI leader has declined to come before the Enforcement Directorate for questioning saying he is a government employee and is busy with his official work.
"The fact that he is a government servant and says that he cannot come because of his responsibilities, indicate a deeper crisis in Kerala. These are the people who are mentored, I am using the word very carefully mentored.....," Mr Vadakkan said.
The 'establishment' in Kerala must come clean, he added.
There were reports that PFI had role in violence during the height of anti-CAA protest in Uttar Pradesh and subsequently it was reported that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) had served summon notices to some PFI leaders.
Regarding the NIA cases, Mr Vijayan said the state government did not ask the NIA to take over the case. But, the premier agency took over the cases, citing their Maoist links, he said.
The students were ousted from their college for not having sufficient attendance, he added.
However, IUML leader MK Muneer said the state government should invoke Section 7 (B) of NIA Act to 'take back' the case by the state government from the NIA.
This demand was rejected by the Chief Minister.
With regards the PFI row, however, BJP is likely to intensify it's questions and attack against the CPI(M)-led government.

The Kerala government is already in confrontation with state Governor Arif Mohammed Khan over the highly controversial CAA.

Meanwhile, Opposition leader in Kerala Ramesh Chennithala slammed Mr Vijayan for declining to make request to take back the NIA cases against two student activists.
The students - Alan Suhaib and Taha Fazal - were arrested in Kozhikode.
IUML leader Muneer has said Kannur University too has not acted in proper norms and did not ask why they had failed to attend classes.
BJP leaders in Kerala said the ED had issued summons to seven office-bearers of PFI and an NGO - Rehab India - in connection with a money laundering probe against them.

They accused that most of the anti-CAA protests were organised by financing them from unreliable and non-transparent resources.Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his election rally on Feb 3, Monday, said the Shaheen Bagh protest was like a 'prayog (an experiment and not merely a coincidence)'.

'AAP worker is Shaheen Bagh shooter, Delhi to give a befitting reply', says Nadda

New Delhi, Feb 4 Days before crucial Delhi assembly polls, the BJP stepped up its attack against AAP linking its 'worker' Kapil to Shaheen Bagh shootout and said the episode has only
exposed Arvind Kejriwal and his party.

"Desh aur Delhi ney aaj AAP ka ganda chehra dekha (People of this country and Delhi today saw the ugly face of AAP)," Mr Nadda tweeted minutes after news went viral on television news channels and social media that Shaheen Bagh shooter Kapil and his father had joined AAP earlier this year.

There were also snaps of Kapil with key AAP leaders.

Meanwhile, Samir Dwivedi, son of Congress veteran Janardhan Dwivedi who joined BJP on Tuesday, said - "Those who are encouraging the protest at Shaheen Bagh are the same people who were praising China in 1962. If we do not come forward to support Prime Minister Narendra Modi now, we will not be able to control the fire".

Samir Dwivedi is a former army officer and had taken retirement in 2008.

In a series of tweets, Mr Nadda said, "This nation will not forgive those who play with its security. The people of Delhi will give a befitting reply".

"For political gains, Arvind Kejriwal and his people have sold out country's safety and security too," he wrote in Hindi adding, "Earlier Mr Kejriwal had insulted Indian army and had tried to take up the cause of terrorists, but today nexus has come out on those who indulge in terror acts".

"It is this Kejriwal and his party that has saved the Tukde-gang....this gang had given a statement that disintegrates the country, but AAP has shielded them. They also threw political dices in favour of Sharjeel Imam. But Sharjeel has been caught by the Delhi Police and their plans failed. Now an AAP worker has opened fire," Mr Nadda wrote.

The BJP chief, who told a party meeting on Tuesday that as many as 240 party MPs will be campaigning in the city in next 2-3 days for February 8 polls, also said, "AAP leader Imam Hussain has been seen in a snap with a radical and fundamentalist leaders of PFI. This organisation (PFI) has hurt India's interest and honour. I wonder why Kejriwal is standing with them".
