BJP is staging Shaheen Bagh protest in connivance with some Muslim leaders: Pravin Togadia



Kolkata Book fair is known for political drama and hype. Taslima Nasreen's book 'Lajja' was launched eyeing the mela and the result is well known.

Now, it is the turn of the battle over Citizenship (Amendment) Act !

Well, all stake hodlers Trinamool Congress, Left and RSS have put up posters and selling books to educate people about the new law.

Bookshops have been set up by mouthpiece of the Students' Federation of India (SFI), the Association for Protection of Democratic Rights (APDR),ruling TMC and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS),exhibiting little magazines and also books on the burning theme grippinmg the nation presently.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's book 'Nagarikatta Aatanko (Fear of Citizenship)', published by Dey's Publishing, was launched in the fair.



The book is being sold from the bookstore of the Trinamool Congress mouthpiece 'Jago Bangla', apart from Dey's Publishing. "The books written by the chief minister on the contemporary issues generate great interest. There is curiosity among people about 'Nagarikata Aatanko' as well," Sudhangshu Dey,a publishing house official, said.


Pravin Togadia is no longer with VHP and is at present heading Antarrashtriya Hindu Parishad (AHP).
He triggered a row on Feb 5, 2020 when he alleged that the protests against the NRC, including the Shaheen Bagh stir, were planned by the BJP in connivance with some Muslim leaders to "awaken" Hindus and win their votes in Delhi polls.


"The BJP is staging the Shaheen Bagh protest in connivance with some Muslim leaders to awaken Hindus and to attract them towards the party," he said in a press conference here.

"I feel there was a meeting held between Muslim clerics and the BJP. This meeting was also reported in the media," he claaimed.


Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind  President Maulana Arshad Madani said the Babri Masjid was a mosque in view of law and justice, and in light of the Shariah.

"It would remain a mosque till the Day of Resurrection, no matter what form and name it is given, because no individual and party has the right to withdraw his claim from any mosque to any alternative," he said in a statement.

"Aiye ....ek swar mein, apna samarthan den - Come, together, let us - all members of this House - work in the direction of building a grand Ram Mandir," Prime Minister made a clarion call


Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday made a suo motu statement in Lok Sabha and informed the House of People that the union cabinet has given its nod to set up the Trust that will work for construction of Ram Temple at Ayodhya.


"The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teertha Kshetra will be formed.....This is the trust that was to be formed in line with the verdict of the Honourable Supreme Court of India I am happy to share with my fellow Indians that important decisions have been taken by cabinet with regard to Ram Janmabhoomi," Mr Modi said.

The cabinet took the decision in its meeting on Wednesday morning.

"These are in line with the verdict of the Honourable Supreme Court of India," he said adding decision has been to also allocate its share of the land to the Sunni Waqf Board.

"A request has been made to the UP government on this, and the state government has also agreed to honour the same," Prime Minister said.

The announcement in the House was received by thumping of desks by treasury bench and there was also Jai Shri Ram slogan chanting.

"The land 67.703 acres, including inside and outside courtyard, will be handed over to the Trust. This is in tune with November 9, 2019 judgement. After the verdict, I am happy to note that entire country and people of all sections have reposed faith in democratic system," then Prime Minister said.

"It was an exemplary gesture and therefore in this House, I do record my appreciation to the people for their conduct," he said.

Mr Modi said, "Our tradition and culture unite us under the guiding theme of Vasudeva Kutumbakam and Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah. It is this spirit, we get the inspiration to march ahead as well."

The Prime Minister pointed out that all sections of people thrive and stay in unity in India - be they be Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, Christians, Buddhists, Parsis and Jains. "We all are part of a larger family only," he said.

"My government is committed to the spirit of the Mantra of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas’ and therefore we are working for the welfare of every Indian. Everyone should remain happy, healthy and prosperous so that the entire country also develops," he said.

The Prime Minister sought support of all members in building up the grand Ram Temple at Ayodhya.

"Aiye ....ek swar mein, apna samarthan den ("Come, together, let us - all members of this House - work in the direction of building a grand Ram Mandir)," the Prime Minister said amid sloganeering and chanting of Jai Shri Ram slogans.




Amit Shah termed the February 8 assembly elections in Delhi a contest between two "ideologies".


"Are you their vote bank....Who is their vote bank," he again asked the gathering that replied, "Shaheen Bagh. I know your decision. The results on February 11 will shock everyone," he claimed.


"Delhi elections are not a contest between two parties. You have to choose between two ideologies -- Rahul Baba, Kejriwal and the company which supports Shaheen Bagh or Modi who is safeguarding the country," he said.

Shah said: "press the EVM button in Kondli with such anger that its current shocks Shaheen Bagh".

DMK Lok Sabha member M K Kanimozhi challenged actor Rajinikanth to raise his voice for Muslims, saying they have "already been affected" by the Citizenship (Amendment) Act and are protesting on streets against the law. Reacting to his statements earlier in the day in Chennai that "CAA is no threat to Muslims" and "if they face trouble I will be the first person to raise voice for them," Kanimozhi, daughter of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, told PTI that "Muslims in India have already been affected due to CAA".

"Let him (Rajinikanth) come forward and raise his voice for the affected Muslims", she said.

Congress leader Digvijay Singh said in Rajya Sabha on Feb 5 that the government should take into confidence the people who are protesting against the CAA at Shaheen Bagh here and hold talks with them to defuse tension.


While participating in the debate on Motion of Thanks on the President's Address, he also urged the government to take back the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and clearly tell the people that NRC and NPR would not be implemented.

"If you want to resolve this issue then please take back CAA. Take people into confidence. If you want to defuse tension then clearly say that you will not implement NRC and NPR," he said.

Samajwadi Party leader Ram Gopal Yadav said, "There were Muslims who went to Karachi after Partition and were treated like second class citizen. They came back to India. Now they are also persecuted minorities."
