"India mourning, ... but we won't delay pace, nor stop 'Pragati', says PM :::::: "Democracy can deliver"

Not long ago, Gen Bipin Rawat, now deceased, had alerted the country of a 2.5 front war against Pakistan, against China and, of course, against enemies within the country. Hence, the choice of words by the Prime Minister has a special significance in more ways than one.

"We are mourning... but we won't delay pace, nor stop 'Pragati', says PM

New Delhi: It was vintage Namo back with his powerful words, trying to give effective leadership to a mourning and tragedy-hit nation.

"... Bharat dukh mein haen, lekin na hum apni Gati rokten haen, aur na hi hamari pragati," PM Modi asserted while speaking at the launch of Rs 9800 crore worth Saryu Nahar National project in Balrampur in Uttar Pradesh.

Farewell Nanu !! Rawat taking ....grand child's good wishes

"Wherever General Bipin Rawat maybe, in the days to come, he will see India moving ahead with new resolutions," the Prime Minister said.

He said while it's a moment of tragedy and mourning, the country will not stop or delay its 'Gati (pace)' nor its Pragati (development)."

Of course, the guiding theme of his speech in less than 24 hours after the country's first CDS and his trusted aide in military and security matters, Gen Bipin Rawat, was laid to rest was-"India will not stop, a determined India won't be at a standstill."

Together, the Prime Minister asserted, all Indians will work hard and face every challenge "inside and outside the country".

"We will strive harder and give a befitting response to all the challenges both within the country and outside." The choice of words by the Prime Minister has special significance in more ways than one.

Gen Bipin Rawat had himself given a unique definition and road map for identifying 'challenges' before the country. Not long ago, Gen Rawat, now deceased, had famously alerted the country of a 2.5 front war against Pakistan, against China and, of course, against enemies within the country. He was known for his skills in undertaking military operations and his assertive words left India's enemies inside and overseas unnerved.

"We will make India more 'shakti-shali' and samridha (strong, confidence and progressive," the Prime Minister said in the presence of UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, among others.

'India story' has a missive - "Democracy can deliver", asserts Modi

New Delhi:

(Joe Biden says safeguarding the rights and freedom of people against the rise of authoritarianism has become a “defining challenge”. PM Modi said - the basic strength of democracy is in the ethos that lie within the citizens. "Democracy has delivered, and will continue to deliver", he noted).

Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave a clarion call to 'democratic countries' including the big brother the

United States to come together to shape global norms for emerging technologies and social media so as

to direct their potentials to empower democracy and not to undermine it.

"We must jointly shape global norms for emerging technologies like social media and crypto-currencies,

so that they are used to empower democracy, not to undermine it," Mr Modi said in his national statement

at the Summit for Democracy convened virtually by President Joe Biden.

In fact, the Prime Minister started his speech in a flamboyant style and said:

"I am proud to represent the world's largest democracy at this Summit. The democratic spirit

is integral to our civilization ethos".

He further said, "Elected republican city-states such as Lichhavi and Shakya flourished in India as far

as 2500 years back. The same democratic spirit is seen in the 10th Century "Uttaramerur" inscription

that codified the principles of democratic participation".

The same spirit again "found full expression" with India's independence, he said adding -

this led to an "unparalleled story" in democratic nation-building over the last 75 years.

"It is a story of unprecedented socio-economic inclusion in all spheres. It is a story of constant

improvements in health, education, and human well-being at an un-imaginable scale".

The Prime Minister said the Summit convened by Biden provides "a timely platform for furthering cooperation among democracies".

"India would be happy to share its expertise in holding free and fair elections," the Prime Minister offered

and also mentioned other features such as "enhancing of transparency" in all areas of governance

through innovative digital solutions.

"We must also jointly shape global norms for emerging technologies like social media and

crypto-currencies," he said.

Mr Modi also said, the different parts of the world have followed different paths of democratic

development. "There is much we can learn from each other. We all need to constantly improve our

democratic practices and systems. And, we all need to continuously enhance inclusion,

transparency, human dignity, responsive grievance redressal and decentralization of power".

"The India story has one clear message to the world. That democracy can deliver, that

democracy has delivered, and that democracy will continue to deliver," he said.

The Summit is being hosted virtually by the US President wherein Mr Biden - smarting from his flip-flop in

Afghanistan - is making a case for America to take a leading role in bolstering democracies.

Biden's mission is clearly against the rise of two autocratic hegemony - Russia and China.

Pakistan despite being invited stayed away from the Summit.

Pakistan was among the four South Asian nations besides India, Maldives and Nepal to receive an invite.

From Asia, the Philippines too was invited.

Biden has said that autocrats as leaders across the world are sowing doubts

about the power of democracy and durability of elected governments.

"Democracy doesn't happen by accident. We have to renew it with each generation," he said.

The same spirit was echoed by PM Modi also quite emphatically -

"Democracy is not only of the people, by the people, for the people but also with the people, within the people."

Perception battle is key ...... How Congress could find itself in 'mess' in Rae Bareli ::: 12 per cent Muslims but there is a Mayawati candidate...Brahmins 10 per cent and 'tall' Samajwadi leader Manoj Pandey is backing BJP

Rae Bareli need not be a cakewalk for Rahul Gandhi.  Take the caste and community composition. There are 12 per cent Muslims and 34 per cent...
