"Priyanka Gandhi's speech was of an average level", says BJP MP ::::::: Wayanad MP suggests Adani-BJP nexus ::::: "Until economic disparities end, people won't get political justice," Samajwadi leader Akhilesh Yadav during debate on Constitution

"Priyanka Gandhi's speech was of an average level, there wasn't anything special in it, but in terms of decency, it was better than Rahul Gandhi's speech," says BJP MP Manoj Tiwari. 

"Whether it was... her honesty or something else, she criticised the Himachal government, but she seemed hesitated when reminded about present Congress government there. Her speech did not meet the expectations of the House," he said.

Congress leader and Wayanad MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Friday alleged that the BJP would have attempted to amend the Constitution but a reduced mandate in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections had stopped the BJP. 

"Had these not been the results of Lok Sabha elections, they would have also started working on changing the Constitution. Winning while almost losing these elections, they have realised that the discussions about changing the Constitution won't work in this country," she said.

Her debut speech was marked by sharp criticism of the government and opposition members thumped their desks in agreement.

Gandhi renewed calls for a nationwide caste-based census and also took aim at the BJP’s own shifting stance on the issue.

"When the entire opposition called for a caste-based census, they talked about cattle and 'mangalsutra' getting stolen," she jibed, a reference to the saffron party’s campaign narrative during the Lok Sabha elections

"The people are demanding a caste-based census, and even the ruling party is talking about it because of the election results," she added

 Samajwadi Party chief and Kannauj MP Akhilesh Yadav said in Lok Sabha :  

"...Until economic disparities end, people won't get political justice...

People are jailed when they speak out against injustice. 

"Right to Express means Treason. If you belong to a different religion, you deserve atrocity. Now there are are issues over worshipping too because elements who are looking for a temple under every mosque do not want this country to be in peace. 

"They do not care about law. I would like to thank the Supreme Coury that they passed an order that for a few days this has been prohibited." 

Yadav also said: "Caste Census will bridge the gap between castes and people of society who did not get justice, rights - they will get rights and respect after Caste Census. So, we support this".

Participating in a debate on the Constitution in the Lok Sabha, Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi said the Constitution was a protective shield, but the BJP government made every effort to break it over the past 10 years. 

In her debut speech as a lawmaker,  without mentioning industrialist Gautam Adani by name, Priyanka Gandhi took jabs over the alleged ties between him and the ruling party.

“The country is watching as 142 crore Indians are being ignored to shield one person. All businesses, money and resources are being handed to one individual. From ports to airports to mines, public-sector companies are being given to one man alone," she said.
