Congress and Samajwadi Party oppose introduction of One Nation One Election Bill in Lok Sabha : Say it is against "basic structure"

 #Congress MP #ManishTewari opposes introduction of #OneNationOneElection Bill saying it is against "basic structure" of the Constitution.  

Samajwadi Party MP Dharmedra Yadav opposed it. Trinamool Congress also support their opposition members' colleagues. Yadav said the BJP-led NDA was trying to bring in dictatorship in the country.

"Beyond the seventh schedule of the Constitution is the basic structured doctrine and that basic structure doctrine spells out that there are certain features of the Indian Constitution which are beyond the amending power of this House also. 

One of the essential features is federalism and the structure of our democracy," Manish Tewari of Congress said,

"Therefore the bills which have been moved by the Minister of Law and Justice absolutely assault the basic structure of the Constitution and are beyond the legislative competence of this House and therefore they need to be opposed and the introduction of those bills have to be stopped."

Shiv Sena member Anil Desai and Muslim League leader E T Mohammed Basheer also oppose introduction of ONOE bills.
