Battle in Telangana will be much bitter in 2024..... both state assembly polls and Lok Sabha battle 'for Modi's hat-trick'

-- Poster appeared ahead of Amit Shah’s visit to Telangana ..it's personal ...shows TRS ie getting nervous

(in 2010 --

Amit Shah was asked to leave Gujarat...."The decision came at a special hearing at Justice Aftab Alam's residence here on CBI's plea seeking cancellation of his bail granted by the Gujarat High Court on Friday in the Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case."

In TRS-ruled Telangana, the BJP has four out of 17 seats.

BJP's Mission 2024 faces roadblock in nine eastern and southern states

New Delhi

Things are good and smooth, yet politics always offer challenges. More so in a dynamic democracylike India where caste and other ethnic divisions are often in the driver's seat.

For the ruling BJP, the 2024 battle would have to be negotiated in nine states mainly -- most ineastern and southern states.

Importantly, for Narendra Modi's Mission Hat-trick, these nine states have as many as 229 seats.

The states are Bihar, West Bengal, Odisha, Telangana, Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu,Kerala and Karnataka.

The saffron party could win only 67 seats from these. Karnataka contributed maximum of ZZ into the saffronparty kitty, followed by 18 from Mamata-ruled West Bengal and eight from Odisha.

Importantly again the challenge also comes from key regional chieftains including Mamata Banerjeein West Bengal -- that has 42 parliamentary seats and also YSR Jagan Mohan Reddy in Andhra Pradesh.

There are also formidable regional challengers like K Chandrashekhar Rao in Telangana (TRS) and M K Stalinof DMK in Tamil Nadu.

Till recently, the BJP had control over 18 states after Maharashtra came into its kitty, but lately Bihardid not have any pleasant story for the Lotus outfit.

According to political observers, the developments in both Maharashtra and Bihar were important as thesecame about 20 months before the 2024 parliamentary polls.

From August-September 2022 to May 2024 when next Lok Sabha polls are expected to be over, there aresome very important - what is politically vital - assembly polls too. These are Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh in Dec 2022, Nagaland, Meghalaya and Tripura in Feb-March 2023,Karnataka April-May 2023, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan and Mizoram by Non-Dec 2023.

From the nine states in eastern and southern India, the BJP has 67 and its alliance partners have only 8 makingit 75 for NDA.That means 154 seats are with other parties and this is where the saffron strategies will have to chalk out innovativeplans to turn the table on their opponents."To bring back Narendra Modi as India's Prime Minister for the third time, we have to make a dent in statessuch as West Bengal and Telangana. Some work is already on and we have to rework strategies inseven other states," a party leader said.

Of course, he admits the BJP does not have a single MP in Kerala and Andhra Pradesh. In DMK-ruledTamil Nadu also, BJP score is zero but its alliance partner AIADMK has only one member.

Nitish Kumar's Bihar has 40 seats and here BJP had in 2019 'made sacrifices' accommodatedJD(U) candidates and still could put up a good show. The BJP has 24 seats from Bihar as of now.

In Bengal, the BJP could win 18 seats out of 42 and in next battle is eyeing much higher rates of successas Trinamool leadership is in disarray and demoralised after the cash recoveries from their top leaders.

In Jharkhand, out of 14, the BJP and allies have 12. In Central India, Chhattisgarh has 11 seats in totaland out of these BJP has 9. But the contest is going to be tough in this state both during state pollsnext year as well as during Lok Sabha polls of 2024.

Among the eastern states, the BJP is likely to improve its tally in Odisha where out of 21 it alreadywon 8 in 2019. The new President Dropaudi Murmu hails from Odisha and this is likely to helpthe saffron party in 2024 in a big way.
