New Delhi
The 15th of August is not far. A sense of pessimism has dawned on Naga people and sections of public leaders, civil societies and also 'well wishers'.
The delay malady continues and Solution remains elusive. More importantly, August 15th deadline -- given in more ways than one - is now knocking at the doors; but no body is sure what is at the end of the tunnel.
Only ray of hope: Namo power |
Yet, some Naga leaders have not given up hopes. Matching their confidence and trust, reportedly the Government of India has assured some 'genuinely committed' Naga leaders that things would be 'workable' and Solution to the long pending
Naga problem is therefore not far off.
In terms of 'deadline' and dates - still nothing has been specified; but things are on track, sources claimed here on Friday evening.
Some Naga leaders (not established state politicians) have got in touch with the Government of India and they have been counseled not to give up 'optimism'.
"To be pessimistic in the given circumstances is natural and probably an easy route. But Nagas are fighters and brave and hence, let us not give up the sense of optimism. Let's wait for brighter things in life," one informed source said.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Independence Day speech from the ramparts of Red Fort on August 15, Monday, would be eagerly awaited in Nagaland --- like never before.
Reportedly, important stake holders are in touch with each other and also some Naga militant leaders have been advised or 'invited' for a cup of tea with senior army officials both at Kohima and Rangapahar.
Hectic round of behind the stage parleys are still on, sources said. However, another source claimed there has been 'no formal or informal channels' on between the Government of India and NSCN-IM for last 90 days or so.
Some state leaders 'mischievously' spread some rumours, it was alleged.
"Talks are over..... now the final task of connecting the dots. To make a garland you need the finer works at the last moment," the source said.
But, there may be still hiccups and in this context, sources refer to NPF leader Kuzholuzo Azo Nienu's "Take it or leave it" statement vis-a-vis the Naga peace talks.
One senior Naga politician - not amongst the 60 sitting MLAs - too has been requested to extend his influences and persuasive skills to ensure involvement of all stakeholders for unanimity.
