“Bless me, my 130 crore compatriots, I need your support. I have come today to seek your support so that I can wage this battle (against corruption).” - PM Modi
Sometimes, he was found wagging a finger perhaps in warning, sometimes clenching his fist as a mark of his 'determination'.

BJP patriarch L.K. Advani ji, former Deputy Prime Minister hoisted the National Flag on Independence Day (Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav) at his residence 30, Prithviraj Road, New Delhi on Monday.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday, Aug 15, made use of the auspicious occasion to further woo the tribal community.
“When we speak of the freedom struggle, we can’t forget the tribal community,” said Modi from the ramparts of the Red Fort. “Bhagwan Birsa Munda, Sidhu-Kanhu, Alluri Sitharama Raju, Govind Guru — there are innumerable names who became the voice of India’s freedom struggle and inspired the tribal community to live and die for the motherland.”
Significantly, Modi mentioned Raju and the names of other tribal leaders alongside those of much-celebrated freedom fighters, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, Bhagat Singh, and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
This declaration by PM Modi came in a season when it is generally being stated that the BJP has made its tribal outreach programmes more aggressive.
The party had recently nominated Droupadi Murmu, a tribal woman, as its Presidential candidate.
Ms Murmu is now the 15th President of India — the first tribal and only the second woman to occupy the elevated post.
Notably, three northeastern states Nagaland, Meghalaya and Tripura with large tribal population go to the polls early next year.
The states of Gujarat, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan also have significant tribal population. While Gujarat goes to the polls in December 2022, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan and also Mizoram in north east will go to the polls in November-December 2023.
The four states in western and central India have a total of 128 assembly seats reserved for the Scheduled Tribes (ST) — 27 in Gujarat, 25 in Rajasthan, 29 in Chhattisgarh and 47 in Madhya Pradesh.
The BJP has managed to win only 35 of these seats in the previous Assembly elections.
On war against Corruption
- "In a country like India where poor people continue to struggle. On one side we see people don't have place to stay, on the other hand some people don't have PLACE TO HIDE the money they have stolen. Such a situation is not good".
