Why Modi won't lose 'crown' ??? ::: Has BJP lost magic-power of Hindutva slogans? ::: Pressure is on Yogi to do miracles in 2027

The North contest in March 2027 : Three key states - UP, Punjab, Uttarakhand

"The boiling pot of identity politics"

In Punjab - It will be Sikh-Hindu game plans, caste idioms and Drug.

In Manipur - its Hindutva BJP and Meiteis ... and also ethnic clashes between Kukis and Nagas -- both Christian communities and also between Kukis and Meiteis.

'Meitei Muslims' -- untouched by cycle of violence

Religious identity: BJP's national strategy clashes with Caste idioms in Uttar Pradesh and also Punjab.

Hence, India’s fiercest electoral contest will be in Yogi Adityanath-ruled UP.

Earlier this year; such contest vis-a-vis battles of narratives and 'religious polarisation' were witnessed in Assam and West Bengal.

In Assam, Congress won 19 seats - 18 MLAs are Muslims.

It is not merely Yogi (an Ascetic) factor. The religious identity will be central to political strategy for the BJP in UP, Punjab and perhaps also in Uttarakhand and Goa.

West Bengal, with an estimated 30–33 percent Muslim population, and under Mamata Banerjee with her populism could not retain power.

In UP, Samajwadi Party leader has a chance to defeat BJP. But SP and its Akhilesh Yadav will face "relentless attacks from the BJP", which paints him as excessively pro-Muslim.

Akhilesh should have played better cards and worked harder. His politics - unlike his dad Late Mulayam Singh Yadav - is not based on 'expansion' of party base. After emerging as the largest party of UP in Lok Sabha in 2024 general elections; the SP should have been a better position to take on Yogi. One mistake perhaps committed by Akhilesh was is decision in 2024 to move to Lok Sabha.

That means he has abandoned state politics.

In contrast, BJP will make Yogi -- the face of the Lotus party - even as there is speculation that the Lotus party will make UP "a top priority" after becoming the second-largest party in 2021.

Like West Bengal, whether the politics in UP has collapsed into a polarized two-way fight is a normal query.

Hindus, Muslims, and Christians all joining hands can make identity politics more unpredictable in Manipur and Goa.

The alleged “infiltration” of Bengali-speaking Muslims from Bangladesh remains a contentious electoral issue.

However, there could be a strong anti incumbency politics amid  economic stagnation 'breeding' resentment.  Frustration in UP is also real.

“Uttar Pradesh seriously and desperately need jobs and functioning health facilities,” says businessman Kailash Maurya.

Chief Minister Yogi is more than just a firebrand BJP leader. He is known for hardline policies and has faced several challenges since 2017. His immensely useful card will be improved law and order.

There is even quiet a speculation that post 2027 ... in the run up to the 2029 general elections, Yogi Adityanath will have to work more closely with PM Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah. The BJP has kept the stage further complicated by suggesting that even after 2029 polls, Namo will continue to be at the helm of affairs.

There are other speculation areas if Yogi moves to Delhi; who takes over in Lucknow ?

Either in Goa, Manipur or UP; the BJP’s strategies do revolve round splitting minority votes and consolidating Hindu support. In Bihar, it succeeded in dividing Muslim votes; similar tactics will likely shape campaigns in UP as well.

About UP; one can say --- "Anger over electoral rolls will count in 2029 only if it is combined with grievances over jobs, prices, and failed examinations".

The BJP hopes to outsmart everyone by use of Hindutva as an axis of India’s electoral politics. But in 2024 - it did not yield expect results. So the BJP has started working on its core voters as well as win over certain 'marginalised' voters.

A lot of hype and misleading statements and media interpretation is already there seeking to glorify Rahul Gandhi. But Congress has not made much ground despite a series of protests in Delhi and other places.

Amid all these; -- Can the Modi government be described as someone who lost ground ?

On Oct. 6, Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, led more than 300 MPs, from Parliament towards the Election Commission, where police stopped them and detained nearly 250. Rahul Gandhi and his sister Priyanka and fellow parliamentarians staged a sit-in at Akashvani Bhawan.  But all these will not transform into votes.

The suspicion about the coming assembly elections in key states and the next general elections in 2029 does not rest on the electoral rolls alone.
BJP's "Delimitation" plan and also “One Nation, One Election” have hit opposition parties largely.

They do not know how to react.

It is also argued that the population in India’s northern states is expected to grow. Hence out of proposed 850 seats in new Indian parliament after Delimitation; the northern states will have more number of MPs.

Hence the southern states and parties such as DMK or even protagonists such as the TDP and Vijat-led outfit in Tamil Nadu will have their base shrunk --- and have their 'concerns' diminished.

The Opposition, which voted as one against the Bill, feared that the formula would still favor the populous north. The government was compelled to withdraw its companion Delimitation Bill, but the question will return after the national census, which will be completed next year.

The upcoming set of provincial elections in these states in 2026 will be a referendum not only on governance but also on the direction of India’s democracy.

The contest is increasingly shifting from development to identity, from performance to polarization.

India’s electoral future is being shaped not by economic debate but by competing visions of what it means to belong — in a nation where belonging has never been easy to define, and is becoming harder still.

Whether Modi will lose his crown depends on matters that the present agitation can influence but cannot settle by itself. He continues to enjoy the confidence of the RSS.

The next general elections will be fought on the electoral register and beyond especially in the months on the eve of March 2027 big battle.
