'Isolation of Congress' is the Big Picture message of Politics of Summer Fest 2026 :::: "Yadavs are now almost political untouchables in UP"

Politics is generally guided by the spirit of the good old dictum - survival of the fittest. Your own survival  instinct and self interests would matter more than anything else.

In recent national and state legislative debates — such as those surrounding the contentious Delimitation Bill—the Congress party has found itself alienated from other members of the INDI-Alliance bloc.

Regional leaders and coalition allies like the NCP, Trinamool Congrss and Shiv Sena have occasionally broken ranks with Congress and opted for routes those seek to "explore independent compromises" with the BJP and the Modi Govt to protect their own local electoral interests.

The ensuing Parliament session may do it once again and in more explicit manner.

The concept of the "Isolation of Congress" would thus refer to the growing political rift between the Rahul-Kharge led Congress  and its regional opposition allies.

This isolation has primarily surfaced in multiple spheres.  Not long ago, Union Minister Prahlad Joshi said ---

"Leaders such as Mamata Banerjee, Sharad Pawar, Abhishek Banerjee, and Uddhav Thackeray are staying away from the Congress, and the reason is Rahul Gandhi".

The past experience shows the regional parties in various states were able to 'defeat' and stop the rise of BJP in states in direct contests. However, post-West Bengal elections and the manner in which the Trinamool Congress "splintered", it is now clear that but even other parties are increasingly vulnerable to splits and defections.

Essentially, these are happening not without good reasons. One, the regional forces were anti-BJP and that would automatically they were pro-Muslim. And secondly, they played up so-called 'social justice' card. But being 'pro-Muslim' made them typically anti-Hindu parties and they started losing vote.

Mamata Banerjee did not realise this vital fact even after results started pouring in on May 4, 2026

Narasimha Rao and all PMs of coalition era - Deve Gowda, VP, Gujral and Chandrashekhar

Secondly, even voters from weaker sections and various caste groups realised that the so-called 'social justice' platform of parties such as RJD and Samajwadi Party were only lip-service and were backing "family interests" alone. In the process, with their knowledge or otherwise - under certain compulsions; these smaller and regional forces and today guided by the 'mantra' of  "absorption into BJP-led NDA polity and ideology".

Therefore, these parties have either agreed or have started negotiating on how to bail out BJP in pulling through controversial Bills during the Monsoon session of parliament.

There is another caste-related game at play especially in the context of Uttar Pradesh - where polls are due by March 2027. Moreover, UP sends as many as 80 MPs to Lok Sabha and if the Delimitation Bill is passed; it may have as many as 120 members in Lower House of Parliament.

In this state - caste idiom saw an interesting phase when Dalit-Brahmin social engineering made BSP supremo Mayawati a much renowned political heavyweight in 2007.

She was in power till 2012 and hence it is for 15 years now ... the BSP is out of power. In another caste game - Yadavs and Muslims gave Samajwadi Party a landslide victory in 2012.

That way, the SP would now be out of power for 10 years by 2027.  In practical term; the Yadavs are the worst victim in political chessboard in UP. And the blame or the credit for this goes to Samajwadi Party only.

Yadavs are now almost political untouchables in UP and this is a dangerous trend. And is also a matter of concern.

Look at the fate of commoner among Yadavs. They are not getting anything substantial from BSP, BJP or the Congress. And in Samajwadi; see the shining stars of 'Yadavs' -- from Ram Gopal to Akhilesh and even his wife Dimple --- all beneficiaries from one family only.

Thus, in 2027 UP polls - the BJP (as ruling party in both state and the centre) may eye this section of Yadavs and then things could yet again throw up a sensational outcome.

Can Congress also sense this?
