Shiv Sena increasingly behaving like a 'Burqa Sena', says BJP spokesman GVL

New Delhi, Jan 23 On the birth anniversary of Shiv Sena founder Bal Thackeray, the BJP accused its erstwhile ally of surrendering to appeasement politics of Congress and NCP and increasingly behaving like a 'Burqa Sena'.

"Shiv Sena is increasingly behaving like a Burqa Sena.....The name Shiv Sena today sounds a misnomer," BJP spokesman and MP GVL Narasimha Rao told reporters here.

"Uddhav party has changed....I do not want to call him a 'Thackeray' too as Thackeray represented a particular ideology," Mr Rao said.

"Mr Uddhav has now sacrificed saffron for clothing his ideology in Burqa," he accused.

Meanwhile, Union Home Minister and former BJP chief Amit Shah paid tributes to Bal Thackeray on his birth anniversary and tweeted to remind everyone that he had "never compromised with his ideals".

"Remembering Balasaheb Thackeray Ji on his Jayanti. Balasaheb Ji was a brilliant intellect of his time, always mesmerised the masses with his oratory skills. He always stood firm and never compromised with his ideals, Balasaheb Ji’s life and his values will continue to inspire us," Mr Shah tweeted.

Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also took to Twitter to pay homage to the Shiv Sena founder.

Sena has been BJP's first regional partner but Uddhav Thackeray-led outfit parted ways from NDA in November 2019 and joined hands with NCP and Congress to form a new government in Maharashtra.

Pak has 'entered' Shaheen Bagh, alleges BJP candidate for Model Town Kapil Mishra

New Delhi, Jan 23 (UNI) BJP candidate from Model Town Kapil Mishra on Thursday claimed Pakistanis have 'taken control' of Delhi streets and referred to anti-CAA protests at Shaheen Bagh and other places to strengthen his argument.

"Pakistan ki entry Shaheen Bagh mein ho chuka hae (Pakistan has entered Shaheen Bagh)," Mr Mishra tweeted in Hindi.

Mr Mishra, also a former AAP leader, further wrote: "There are mini Pakistan already in various parts of Delhi - Shaheen Bagh, Chand Bangh, Indralok. In these hubs, the rule of the land is not being adhered to".

"Pakistani rioters have taken control of Delhi," he wrote.

Mr Mishra also wrote: "There could be compulsion for some people to keep silent on protestors attacking police and putting fire buses. I do not have any such compulsion".

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Wednesday complained to the Chief Election Officer demanding that nomination papers of Kapil Mishra should be rejected as Mishra had been using a government accommodation for the past 10 years and and he did not submit no-dues certificate about water, electricity and telephone expenses for such accommodation.

Meanwhile, another BJP leader R P Singh said there is an immense competition going on between Congress and AAP to woo votes from one particular section of people.

PM pays homage to Bal Thackeray: Sena and MNS organise separate rallies

New Delhi, Jan 23 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday paid homage to Shiv Sena founder Late Balasaheb Thackeray and described him as a 'courageous and indomitable' man who continues to inspire millions.

"Tributes to the great Balasaheb Thackeray on his Jayanti. Courageous and indomitable, he never hesitated from raising issues of public welfare," Mr Modi said in a tweet.

"He (Late Thackeray) always remained proud of Indian ethos and values. He continues to inspire millions," the Prime Minister wrote.

Born on January 23, 1926, Sena founder and former supremo of his party breathed his last on November 17, 2012.

Meanwhile, in Mumbai lot of politics is on cards with regard Balasaheb Thackeray's birth anniversary as both Shiv Sena and MNS led by Late Thackeray's nephew Raj Thackeray are observing the day with two separate rallies.

MNS will have a day-long party conclave at NESCO ground, Goregaon in the western suburbs.

Sources said MNS, which has released videos lately showing the map of Maharashtra in saffron colour, is likely to take a more pro-Hindutva stance coinciding with Uddhav Thackeray-led Sena taking a rather 'secular' stance after it formed alliance government with Congress and NCP.

There was also much talk about changing dynamics in Maharashtra politics when Raj Thackeray had met former Maharashtra Chief Minister and senior BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis.

Shiv Sena of Uddhav Thackeray has organised a mega rally at MMRDA Ground in Bandra-Kurla Complex and that will also celebrate 'fulfilling the promise' given to Balasaheb Thackeray that there will return of Sena chief minister.

Uddhav Thackeray became the third Sena Chief Minister after the party stitched alliance with NCP and Congress as Shiv Sena parted ways from the BJP.

Earlier Manohor Joshi and Narayan Rane were two Sena Chief Ministers in 1990s.

Sena and its erstwhile ally BJP were out of power for sometime between 1999 and 2014 but in 2014 October when they returned to power, the BJP had bigger number and thus Mr Fadnavis had become the Chief Minister.
