BJP leader and legislator Imkong L Imchen in his message said --
"I am deeply saddened to learn about the demise of our beloved Hon'ble Governor Shri. La Ganesan after a unfortunate accident in his private residence in Chennai on the auspicious day of our National Independence Day (15th August 2025).
".... he was a perfect gentleman and a true servant of the people.
Even though he was a RSS Pracharak, he never showed political prejudice in his administration of the State to any political party.
.... his respect to the high office of the Governor of a State was something unparalleled from his predecessors of the State. On every occasion where there is requirement for the Hon'ble Governor to address the Nagaland Legislative Assembly, he always came with dignity and Honour and delivered his speeches within the parameters of the Constitutional obligations".
"Above all his anxiety to bring about a permanent solution to the Naga Political issue was clearly demonstrated in all his interactions with various cross sections of the People of Nagaland," the former minister said in his condolence message.
"His sudden demise is not only a loss to the people of Nagaland but more so to my individual self. He was always there to guide and advice me in the field of my public service.
I shall be enormously missing his personal presence".
Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio in his message said:
“The void left by Governor Ganesan's passing will be deeply felt, but we take comfort in the legacy of service, courage, and leadership he leaves behind".
Rio said Ganesan, appointed as the 21st Governor of Nagaland on February 11, 2023, served the State with unwavering dedication and humility. “Despite holding the highest office in the State, he remained simple, humble, and deeply connected to the grassroots. His modest nature endeared him to the people and will continue to inspire generations”.
Reflecting on his personal association with the late Governor, Dr. Rio described him as “a man of integrity, principle, great wisdom, and moral strength — steadfast in his commitment to upholding the values of the Constitution.”
Deputy Chief Minister and BLP leader, Y. Patton, expressed deep shock and sadness over the demise of the Governor, describing his tenure as one marked by dedicated service, commitment to harmony, and unwavering focus on development.
Patton noted that Ganesan’s leadership was defined by humility and a sincere engagement with people across communities, fostering unity and trust.
In a condolence message, the NPP (Nagaland unit) described Late Ganesan as a leader of exceptional humility and wisdom, whose tenure was marked by tireless efforts to uphold unity, peace, and progress.
His ability to connect with people from all walks of life and his commitment to public welfare were highlighted as enduring qualities that earned him widespread respect and affection, the party said.
