Boosting movement for an early Solution, Kitovi gets Ceasefire extension ...... in a mega setback to Status Quo Club ::::: Real winner is the cause of Permanent Peace and Early Solution to Naga issue

"...Heaven and Hell have always been concepts
that have been used to control and frighten people" ---- film "Heaven is for real"

Ceasefire for eminent Naga militant group NSCN [NK] ... a big achievement for veteran rebel leader N Kitovi Zhimomi.

"...May it turn a new leaf," said an old colleague of N Kitovi.

It was otherwise a routine matter and till 2024 it was a normal annual formality.

But it turned out to be a big occasion in 2025 because for the last 12 months there were all sorts of efforts from the obvious saboteurs of peace process --- the so called Status Quo Club -- who does not an early Solution.

With his back on the wall that he fought back the hurdles -- artificially created -- gives an occasion to the NSCN (NK) under N Kitovi Zhimomi to celebrate and when reports came late Friday night (April 11, 2025) from the Khehoyi camp -- there were some merry making.

And all that not without good reasons.

What is significant to note is that New Delhi is now more than vocal in stating "we know the importance of Kitovi".

The 57-year-old Naga 'rebel leader' Zhimomi hails from Sema or Sumi Naga community and was the chief mover in 2016 and 2017 when umbrella organisation Naga National Political Groups (NNPGs) was formed. This followed signing of an Agreed Position or a preliminary statement for peace with certain details as was released in a Status Paper.

"We ought to have the rule of law. People have to have rules that apply equally to everyone. One cannot dream of Nagaland as a state where we pursue - my way or the highway," Kitovi had told a group of youngsters in 2022.

Asked to comment on the ceasefire that was inked by Additional Secretary (Home), Govt of India Piyush Goyal and two of Kitovi's lieutenants G Naga (Team leader) and Chuba Tungoe, Secretary, NSCN-NK, Kitovi merely said:

"Now ,,,, there is very high expectation. We have to restore permanent peace and stability in Nagaland on all fronts".

The signed document says the ceasefire will be subject to adherence to the Ceasefire ground rules mutually agreed and signed by the two sides".

Ato Kilonser Kitovi Zhimomi informed that the extension of the ceasefire agreement with the Government of India is “a chance to cultivate peaceful and honorable political solution to the enduring Indo-Naga conflict.”

A press release from the MIP of the Kitovi led GPRN/NSCN said this development “is a crucial step forward that can pave the way for reconciliation and create a brighter future for all involved.”

The Status quo club patrons and philosophy-guides were too happy as the NSCN (Unification) under Kitovi had split in April 2024.

Even the March 22, 2025 'adventurism' when armed cadres "came together" to give a broad lesson and message for unity could not work as a quick-fix.

However, it is appreciated now that the Govt of India could see the 'tricks' applied by detractors of the peace process.

Apparently it is learnt that the move to extend ceasefire to NSCN (NK) was endorsed by the Govt of India at "a very high level" as even cabinet committee on security had given its nod possibly informally.

During Friday's meeting as the ceasefire document was being fine tuned, G Naga (Team Leader, NSCN-NK) reportedly thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for giving peace efforts a renewed chance vis-a-vis the Naga issue and that the Final Solution that is expected to be inked --- will be ...

"honourable, enduring and inclusive for peaceful co-existence with due regard to contemporary political realities".

Several Naga social activists and leaders (including from other rebel groups) have welcomed the development.

One eminent leader (also part of NNPG) said - "May the Naga people see the Solution at the earliest".

Another prominent face and associated with the Naga movement remarked: "Very happy about the new development.... and may it turn a new leaf".
