Terror-related activities and 'Drones' supply :::: NIA takes seven foreigners into custody for 11 days in Delhi Court

The Special NIA Court at Patiala House Court in Delhi remanded seven foreigners for 11 days of National Investigation Agency (NIA) custody. 


The seven foreigners include three Ukrainians, who were arrested in Delhi,

Sources say three others were held from Lucknow and one US citizen from Kolkata.  


These arrests are part of an ongoing investigation into foreign involvement in the ongoing ethnic conflicts and insurgent activities in Northeast India.





Additional Sessions Judge Prashant Sharma conducted the hearing in a closed courtroom. 


The NIA had sought 15 days’ custody to investigate the case. 


It is alleged that these foreigners came to India on a visa and then entered Mizoram, which is a protected area. 


Thereafter, they entered Myanmar and contacted ethnic war groups. 

Special public prosecutor (SPP) Atul Tyagi alongwith Amit Rohila and others, appeared for the NIA, 

The anti-terror agency has alleged that they were trained in Myanmar and were training ethnic war groups. 

They will be in NIA custody till March 27th. 

The NIA registered the case under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). 


These groups are associated with insurgent groups in India. It is also alleged that they brought a huge consignment of drones from Europe via India.
