"Baying at the moon" ? ? --- The so-called Globalisation era ... Why this Collapse ?? --- Discarding Science for Salvation ..... Self-interests of haves prevailed

Globalisation -- failed as a concept of Salvation and Unity

United World is a myth as Self-interests of Haves prevail

It may not be any rocket science to suggest that one of the most glaring examples of 'defeat' of Globalisation was during COVID-19' when vaccine apartheid by the western and established powers became the order of the day.

India under Narendra Modi was an exception than as New Delhi sent vaccines to many if not all neighbouring countries and also to a large number of third world countries. This happened despite peculiar skepticism expressed by Modi's political detractors in the country.

When the pandemic struck in 2020, the world looked to science for salvation. Of course Vaccines were developed at record speed in many countries and that was a testament to human ingenuity. But what followed was a stark reminder of our collective failure. The baser human instinct - selfishness.

Wealthy nations hoarded vaccines, while poorer countries were left to fend for themselves. By mid-2021, high-income countries had secured enough doses to vaccinate their populations multiple times over, while less than 1% of people in low-income countries had received a single dose.

This was more than a failure of human ability or logistics against the unprecedented challenge; it was a case of gross 'failure of humanity'. The promise of shared knowledge and science went for a toss and the world was divided into the haves and the have-nots.  But this was coming.

Perhaps till things came out so openly; people preferred to look the other way.

Over the years, globalization has exacerbated economic inequality both within and between countries. While some regions and individuals have thrived, others have been left behind. The benefits of globalization have not been evenly distributed, leading to a widening gap between the rich and the poor. This economic disparity has resulted in social and political instability, undermining the positive impacts of globalization.

There were other negative aspects such as Cultural Homogenization,

Labour Exploitation and

even Environmental degradation.

The concentration of wealth particularly in developed countries has led to the marginalization of vulnerable populations, fueling discontent and politico-social unrest.

The dominance of Western culture, particularly American, overshadowed and thus local traditions, teachings and identities were eroded.

This loss of cultural diversity in effect diminished the richness of the global cultural tapestry.

Hence we had - 'marginalization' of minority cultures.

The world is still reeling under the global proliferation of western fast food chains, fashion brands, and entertainment. In the process, health care and family system once considered vital aspects of human existence has almost disappeared.

Hence, preserving cultural diversity in the face of globalization requires conscious efforts to protect native and even sub-regional and regional heritage.

Industrial activities and the global transportation of goods contribute significantly to carbon emissions, exacerbating climate change.

The rapid economic growth and industrialization have taken a toll on the environment. Increased production and consumption have led to higher levels of pollution, deforestation, and depletion of natural resources.

Even Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has exposed the vulnerabilities and shortcomings of unchecked globalism and neo-liberal orthodoxy about the primacy of markets,

Thus, we have already landed in an era when there is need today to examine about the post-globalism economy. Maybe the world has to come out of the “prison of ideology” and the Governments and  Policymakers have to consider Solutions outside of market-centric approaches.

There is already a school of though which says finding a way forward for the world economy will require two kinds of thinking -- one --

Imagining possible futures and what a more inclusive and

Secondly; How to create good jobs in an equitable way in specific settings.

India's Vaccine policy worked well globally

Now take a few examples which we could relate easily.

Globalisation is a double-edged sword that brings both opportunities and challenges to the global stage.

The reliance on the textile industry has made Bangladesh vulnerable to global market fluctuations. The competition has led to cost-cutting measures that sometimes compromise worker safety and environmental standards. This applies to other such economies as well.

Now the other aspects and the other sides of the story.

How should things be understood ?

The collapse of globalization means --

-- a moral crisis. This is not a geopolitical shift. It is a betrayal of the ideals.

Thus, the global community and especially the rich and developing countries must confront the hard truths and rekindle the spirit of oneness and recommit to the principles of shared science, development, and peace.

Today's world is already hit with

Divisions, Inequality, and Moral bankruptcy.

The future generations may simply question -- how we could have allowed such inequities to persist and how the humanity could have turned a blind eye to sufferings.

Some would say - our standards of ethics and collective conscience are being tested.

Take a pause. Globalization as a concept was never just about economics.

But it failed to live up to the expectations.

We simply forgot that our fates are intertwined and that the well-being of one is tied to the well-being of all.

"Baying at the moon" is a relevant idiom to ponder. It means making a futile or pointless effort, similar to a dog barking at the moon, which has no effect.

It describes wasting time and energy on something impossible to change or achieve, or expressing frustration in a way that has no impact.

We in effect need to adjust our expectations and stop howling at the moon.
