Things are again looking pretty serious in the national capital on the Covid19 pandemic front.The number of fresh Covid-19 cases in Delhi crossed 1,000 on Wednesday (April 20).
The capital reported 1,009 new cases of the disease.
As many as 632 Covid-positive cases were reported on Tuesday while the number was 501 on Monday, April 18.

In view of the spike in the daily infections, the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) has again made it mandatory to use masks in public places in the capital.
It also reintroduced a fine of Rs 500 for violation of the mask rule.
An alarmed Central government has on Tuesday, April 19, raised a red flag to three states — Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Mizoram — and also the national capital Delhi for the spread of Covid19.
These four provinces had reported an increase in the positivity rate and hence the Government
of India issued directives to maintain a strict watch and take pre-emptive actions to control any emerging
spread of infection.
The national capital has been witnessing an upward trend in daily COVID-19 cases and the positivity rate over the last few days. However, the positivity rate on Sunday came down to 4.21 per cent from 5.33 per cent on Saturday.
On the whole, Delhi reported 18.7 lakh cases and 26.160 deaths due to the pandemic while there were total 4.3 crore cases in the country and 5.22 lakh deaths.
