Namo's Birthday comes on Sept 17 : If Namo that is PM Modi did not exist, the country would have to invent him, really ?

If Namo that is PM Modi did not exist, the country would have to invent him, really ????

The analogy is not mine original as decades back an ardent observer of Chinese developments had written that: “If China did not exist, we would have to invent her”.

So, a pompous flattery !!

Now, let us take a refresh memory exercise and just look back some quotes about him from certain leaders and admirers of a man called Narendra Modi !

Some cover stories by 'India Today' in 2002

Some quotes:

BJP has an aluminium Sardar instead of an iron man

- Shankersinh Vaghela, 2002

# Dial M for Modi, Murderer - Indian Express (2002)

## Society needs a dynamic leader like Narendra Modi. - Hema Malini

"The first 100 days of the Modi raj indicate that India doesn't have a listening prime minister. It is therefore possible, I believe, that he will become isolated from reality," - Mark Tully, former BBC journo in 2014

Modi doesn't seem concerned about listening to the voice of experience. There is a widespread feeling within the Congress that Rahul Gandhi depends too much on inexperienced advisors with fancy foreign degrees. Modi has not surrounded himself with young inexperienced advisors but he hasn't shown much respect for experience.  - Mark Tully in 2014 (Hindustan Times)

"If our credulous free-market columnists had cared to study the life and career of Narendra Modi before he became Prime Minister, they would have seen that it has always been animated by three things. These are the promotion and consolidation of Hindu pride, the capture and consolidation of political power by the Bharatiya Janata Party, and the promotion of himself as a personal brand embodying Hindu pride and BJP dominance." - Ramachandra Guha in Oct 2020 (NDTV website)

India Today: 2002

In 2014: Sept 17, this blogger wrote:

"For long the ‘information’ came walking to the journalists. The more vulnerable you were to be misused for news-plantations by netas, you were more efficient journalists in Delhi. But owing to Modi’s gag order, even the likes of Paswan (sadly, now deceased) has gone silent. There is no off the record briefing about what transpired at cabinet meetings. So some people are almost jobless."

Blogger's piece on Dec 31, 2017

"The BJP as a ruling dispensation and Narendra Modi's government had come under severe criticism for the GST and its demonetization move in 2016 and a reduced number of seats in Modi-Shah's home state were like spoilsport for the party which otherwise had enough reasons to ring out the circa 2017 on a celebratory note."

"But in the ultimate for the party, Mr Modi remains its star face and it was purely his 'mass appeal' that saw BJP successfully brave 22-year-old incumbency in Gujarat -- even as the number of seats declined by 16 from what was in 2012."

CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury (in 2019)

- “Today is the third anniversary of a crime against the Indian people. In its hubris, this Government did demonetisation which unleashed nothing but a crisis and pain.

Two BJP giants

Farooq Abdullah in 2018, Decmber:

"Modi should become tolerant like Vajpayee. He is the prime minister. He has to come up to that level and should not get engaged in smaller issues. At time I feel sorry for his statements.”
