"But I also feel ...that regional party is sincerely committed to Naga history and identity... This is the right platform".

(A group of intellectual NDPP supporters have reportedly told party chief Chingwang Konyak and CM Rio that this blogger is "non serious and speculative.... and no real depth in writings" ) 

Rio also stated on Sept 12th meeting: 

In 1990 I was with K L Chishi. "He could run the government only for 28 days.... jhagda besi ...

(There were differences but he had committed some mistakes too).

"I was also a Minister ... But he did not allocate portfolio on time.... Teen hafta jaisey (Three weeks gone...portfolios were not distributed. It was given just on the eve of his travel to Delhi".

"He went to Delhi ... we ministers took charge and officers briefed everyone in details (chief minister toh ki ki korisey ... etu san koi disey)".

"Sab complaint hoi kena jama kori kena ... yeh na rakhibo... (We all got together and decided to oust Chishi)".

(Rio might have deliberately avoided talking about the intense negotiations started by S C Jamir with the then NPC working president Vamuzo and I K Sema was Jamir's trusted man for the job.

JLP was formed and Chishi government was brought down.)

Some years later Jamir used to tease Vamuzo and once said :

"We went around like hunting bird.... who will be over ambitious fellow to destroy his own party... ah, at last we found Vamuzo... He was willing to bring down his own party government".

The Congress leaders in Delhi too were unhappy the manner Rio chose to attack Chishi.

Incidentally the political turbulence of 1990 Rio is referring to was not linked to Congress politics that time. 

Delhi Congress leaders say -- such recalling of history is "unwarranted" especially K L Chishi has almost retired from electoral and party politics due to age. 

Rajesh Sethi further said in his remarks in social media including Facebook ---

"Rio’s attempt to project himself as a leader who is ‘sacrificing’ or even contemplating ‘retirement’ is nothing but a sympathy card. People of Nagaland have not forgotten that under his watch, the peace process has stagnated, corruption has thrived, and ordinary citizens continue to suffer from unemployment, poor infrastructure, and skyrocketing prices," said Sethi.  

"The Congress party believes that instead of merger gimmicks, Rio should show statesmanship by pushing for an honourable and acceptable political solution. 

He should remember that power is temporary, but legacy is permanent."
