India blasts Switzerland and Pakistan in UN ... for "ill-informed" statement and for sheltering Osama bin Laden

India strongly responded to Switzerland's remarks at the UNHRC regarding minority rights.

Kshitij Tyagi criticized Switzerland's statement as ill-informed.

India also accused Pakistan of supporting cross-border terrorism. Tyagi mentioned several terror attacks linked to Pakistan-based groups. He reminded the council of Pakistan sheltering Osama bin Laden.

Indian diplomat Kshitij Tyagi delivered a sharp response to Switzerland at the 5th Meeting of the 60th Session of the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC), calling its comments on India “surprising, shallow and ill-informed.”

Speaking at the session, Tyagi said, “As it holds the UNHRC presidency, it is all the more important for Switzerland to avoid wasting the council's time with narratives that are blatantly false and do not do justice to the reality of India.”

He added that instead of criticizing India, Switzerland should focus on addressing its own challenges, such as “racism, systematic discrimination and xenophobia.”

Highlighting India’s diversity and democratic credentials, Tyagi said,

“As the world’s largest, most diverse and vibrant democracy, with a civilizational embrace of pluralism, India remains ready to help Switzerland address these concerns.”

Counsellor Kshitij Tyagi accused Pakistan of sponsoring terror and misusing international forums to spread propaganda. During the council’s 60th session in Geneva, Tyagi exercised India’s Right of Reply after Pakistan commented on India. He said India needed no lessons from a terror sponsor, citing Pakistan’s history of financing and sheltering terrorist networks.

Tyagi referenced past attacks, including Pulwama, Uri, Pathankot, and Mumbai, as well as a recent attack in Pahalgam. He also noted the hypocrisy of Pakistan’s leaders, pointing out that they had previously provided sanctuary to Al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden.

India accused Pakistan of a pathological fixation on India and of routinely misusing international forums such as the UNHRC and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation to spread propaganda.
