One-year of Vax drive, Fight against Covid to remain 'science based', says PM

 New Delhi:

(India's vaccination drive was also marked by large scale export and global assistance provided by India to countries across the globe. But at home, there were reports of Congress party abusing vaccines including dumping them in Rajasthan. In some states, they focused on profit making. Vax hesitation was encouraged by likes of Akhilesh Yadav.)

January 16th, Sunday, marks one year of the massive and unique vaccination against Covid19 pandemic drive in the country.

Billed as the world's largest vax drive in the new century - albeit post the pandemic - so far India’s cumulative Covid19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 156.76 crore.

More than 66 lakh vaccine doses have been administered in last one between Saturday and Sunday morning.

"India’s approach to fighting the pandemic will always remain science based. We are also augmenting health infrastructure to ensure our fellow citizens get proper care," Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated in a series of tweets.

"Let us keep following all Covid19 related protocols and overcome the pandemic," he wrote.

"Today we mark one Year of Vaccine Drive. I salute each and every individual who is associated with
the vaccination drive," Mr Modi said adding, "Our vaccination programme has added great strength to the
fight against Covid 19. It has led to saving lives and thus protecting livelihoods".

The Prime Minister said, "When the Covid19 pandemic first struck, we did not know much about the virus.

However, our scientists and innovators immersed themselves in developing vaccines. India feels proud that
our nation has been able to contribute to fighting the pandemic through vaccines".

"At the same time, the role of our doctors, nurses and healthcare workers is exceptional. When we see
glimpses of people being vaccinated in remote areas, or our healthcare workers taking the vaccines there,
our hearts and minds are filled with pride," the Prime Minister said.

Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said India's vaccination drive has been "the most successful in the
world".

Union Home Minister Amit Shah also congratulated the nation saying, "With unity, we can achieve any target"

The registrations for vaccination against the dreaded infection for children falling into the age bracket of 15 to 18 years commenced on Jan 3, 2022.

A tweet by MyGovIndia says, "Our vaccination drive has shown the power of Team India”

Today, as we celebrate one year of the world's 'Largest Vaccine Drive', we have witnessed what happens when 1.3 billion people come together for a common goal."

The country's Covid vaccination coverage has crossed 156 crore 63 lakh mark on Sunday morning.

Moreover, more than 42, 69,000 Precaution Doses have also been administered so far.
