Prime Minister said that the time for expansionism is over. This is the era of development. He recalled that it is this mindset of expansionism that did great harm.
He said that in the last few years, several steps have been taken for the wellbeing of India’s forces and furthering India’s security preparedness. This includes ensuring availability of modern weaponry, increased border infrastructure, border area development and expanding the roads network. He further shared that expenditure on border infrastructure has been enhanced three times.
Reacting to PM Modi’s Ladakh visit, Zhao Lijian, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson, said that no party should engage in any action that may escalate the situation at this point.
"India and China are in communication and negotiations on lowering the temperatures through military and diplomatic channels".

Modi made a surprise visit to a forward post in Ladakh on July 3 morning and interacted with troops days after the June 15 border clash with China.
Twenty soldiers were killed in the line of duty.
"The age of expansionism is over, this is the age of development. History knows that expansionist forces have either lost or were forced to turn back," he said, addressing soldiers during the visit that served as a morale booster for the forces and a powerful message to China.
"The weak can never accomplish peace, the brave do," he asserted.
Not many people knew about PM Modi's Leh visit on July 3.
The decision for Modi to visit Ladakh sector was taken on July 2 after Defence Minister Rajnath Singh's visit was deferred.
National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval SDS Gen Bipin Rawat and army chief Gen M M Naravane approved of the idea.
It was a well guarded move !

The visit is aimed to review the tri-services preparedness against the aggressive People’s Liberation Army (PLA).
PM addressed Indian troops at Thiksey near Leh and also met injured soldiers at the hospital in Nimu near Leh.
Northern Army Commander Lt Gen Y K Joshi and XIV Corps Commander Lt Gen Harinder Singh briefed Modi at Nimu headquarters.
