As Naga leaders from Manipur call on Muivah, the NSCN-IM looks for 'old cover' ... blasts Assam Rifles, Manipur police for alleged nexus with Kukis.
This is not the first time the Nagas of Manipur are at crossroads. They have faced the predicament in the 1950s and 1960s and understandably
therefore 'stayed away' from Nagaland's statehood mission.

Crucial meet - March 25, 2025 |

Not merely a photo opportunity !! |
Yet again in circa 2025, things have come back 'full circle'. Late Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee often used to say in the national context -
"ghari ki sui usi jagah akey rook gayi hae
(the hands of the clock have come back to the same point)".
In 2025; according to inputs from ground zero, a group of Tangkhul, Mao and other Naga leaders called on NSCN-IM stalwart Thuingaleng Muivah and other top brass including from the 'military wing'.
There was reportedly no one from Zeliangrong tribe.
The allegations from NSCN-IM against Assam Rifles and other central forces for alleged nexus with the Kukis also started way back in the 1990s.
Journalists in Nagaland and (perhaps) also in Manipur including this blogger believed every statement and every allegation those days.
I myself grilled the then Minister of State for Home (Internal Security) Rajesh Pilot on these allegations at the 3rd Mile ARTC ground, Dimapur. Of course Pilot, now deceased, was furious and had dismissed the charge.
In 2025 - the same charges have surfaced yet again. Notably, in 2023 during the peak of Meitei-Kuki conflict too, the Assam Rifles was subjected to these allegations.
In fact, the power of manipulation was so vivid that two battalions were moved out from Kuki pockets and replaced by a central force - which could be experts in handling communal riots but not north east's guerrilla warfare/insurgency.
In any case the NSCN-IM statement (as reported in a section of media - 'The Dawn Tantak', Ukhrul); in a scathing press release "once again" accused Indian paramilitary forces of engaging in unethical collusion with Kuki militants in Manipur.
"The NSCN stated that it had previously exposed the Manipur State Police for secretly providing supplies to Kuki militants stationed in Molhang Kuki village, Ukhrul. This revelation, according to the group, left no room for the state police to deny their involvement, as undeniable evidence had surfaced".
The militant organisation which is in peace parleys for last 28 years (but going seems to be quite bumpy as of now) also dragged in other central forces such as the Border Security Force in the controversy.
According to NSCN-IM, the BSF has been allegedly engaged in the illegal transportation of unidentified immigrants from Churachandpur district.
These individuals were reportedly dropped off at Litan village and its surrounding areas in Ukhrul district, where Kuki settlements are located. The militant body denounced this as a "calculated move to alter the region's demographic structure" and reinforce the presence of Kuki militants in Naga-inhabited areas, the statement alleged.
In the meantime, New Delhi has taken due cognizance of the Manipur Naga leaders meeting with Muivah and other top 'military brass' of NSCN-IM.
According to reports reaching from Dimapur and Ukhrul; Muivah did not do much talking due to health issues. Hence the responsibility of 'real interaction' fell on his subordinates.
In North Bloc, mandarins are these days also trying to do proper analysis 'what shape and kind of second generation leadership in emerging in the NSCN-IM'.
One key probable claimant for the 'future leadership' reportedly did most of the talking and he reportedly (and even understandably) again tried to sell 'big dreams' about Naga freedom.
Some Manipur Naga leaders (with good political connections with both the Congress and the BJP camps) are also in touch with New Delhi's pro-government analysts.
One source in the know of things claimed -
"We are happy some Naga leaders from Manipur do not shy away to talk to us.
Hence, we know in today's meeting they explained their "predicament" especially because the process for Solution to the Naga issue has been virtually stalled now for many months".
The Naga leaders in Manipur especially Maos and Tangkhuls are wary over the fact that the Manipur Governor Ajay Bhalla has started moving things and a Solution between Meitis and Kukis may come soon.
In such a situation, the fear is the Kukis (their rivals in more ways than one) could gain and the Nagas of Manipur will have to end up getting a humble pie.
There is a growing realisation amongst Naga leaders of Manipur (especially those who are close to the BJP central leadership) that a consensus should be built for creating 'a council with greater autonomy'.
But the NSCN-IM stance on Flag and a separate Naga constitution and NDPP leaders in Nagaland talking about 'Naga integration' have only added to the Confusion.
In the garb of emerging as Smart; we may end up becoming over-smart and loose out on all scores, a Manipur-based Naga leader has informed BJP's central leadership.

Namo now working for 'an insurgency-free vaccine' for North East ??? |
There's yet another meta-physical area of concern for New Delhi. The FNR roadmap is ever 'confusing' and in effect clueless, said an analyst adding -
"talking about tribal bodies into a common platform at this juncture is only Status Quo Club agenda.
"The March 20th meeting by GBs and civil society leaders was more result-oriented unlike recalling the unhappy chapters of history such as Plebiscite of 1951. Going back to these issues can only make NDPP-BJP regime happy.
PM Narendra Modi lay soon have to look for bitter medicines".
