Modi showed an Unwavering Commitment to Reform; gave India Steadfast Leadership Through Turbulent Times : Union Cabinet

Cabinet on Oct 6th passed resolution congratulating Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on 25 Years of Unbroken Leadership

Modi was first sowrn in as Gujarat chief minister on Oct 7, 2001 and  since then he has been in power holding the public office as an executive head of a government apparatus - first in the western state and then as India's Prime Minister.

Far more than a customary tribute, it celebrates the extraordinary journey of PM Modi guided by principle of Nation First and Citizen First.

Three overwhelming mandates in Gujarat and support in three successive Lok Sabha elections reflect the enduring trust that public have reposed in PM Narendra Modi

These ten salient features capture the unbroken thread connecting his leadership of Gujarat with his leadership of India.

From Gujarat to India - A Development Vision Grows

The resolution traces how PM Modi carried Gujarat’s successful initiatives to the national stage.

SWAGAT, through which he personally heard citizens’ grievances, received the United Nations Public Service Award in 2010.

It later inspired PRAGATI, bringing governments together to review stalled projects, resolve obstacles and accelerate completion.

Jyotigram’s separate agricultural electricity feeders similarly became a national approach, extending Gujarat’s experience across India.

Compassion for the Poor Becomes Dignity at Scale

PM Modi’s sensitivity towards poverty grew from watching his mother struggle with everyday hardships and encountering deprivation during his travels. The resolution connects these experiences with programmes delivering homes, water, banking and healthcare.

Nearly 60 crore Jan Dhan accounts, over 4 crore homes and 25 crore people moving out of poverty show how personal understanding became public action, bringing families dignity.

Empowerment Opens Doors Across Society

PM Modi’s determination to help people shape their futures runs through the resolution. Approximately 3.5 crore women became LakhpatiDidis, while the Nari Shakti VandanAdhiniyam provided for women’s reservation.

Startups, skills and education reform expanded youth opportunities. PM-KISAN transfers exceeded ₹4 lakh crore, while PM-JANMAN brought focused support to particularly vulnerable tribal communities, extending development to those historically left behind.

An Unwavering Commitment to Reform

The resolution gives particular emphasis to PM Modi’s willingness to pursue reform despite political risks. GST, welfare delivery reforms and the replacement of colonial laws demonstrate his determination to address longstanding challenges.

His appeals on cleanliness, digital payments and local products drew citizens into change.

Reform emerges as a sustained commitment of his leadership, strengthened by conviction, public participation and national purpose.

Building the Foundations of a Self-Reliant India

Under PM Modi’s leadership, Public capital expenditure rose from ₹2 lakh crore to over ₹12 lakh crore, alongside highway expansion and railway electrification. Electronics production increased from around ₹2 lakh crore to more than ₹13 lakh crore. Defence production and semiconductor manufacturing further reflect his determination to strengthen India’s ability to meet its needs.

Technology Serves Citizens and Expands National Ambition

PM Modi’s faith in technology emerges through achievements spanning everyday services and scientific frontiers. Jan Dhan, Aadhaar and mobile connectivity improved welfare delivery, while UPI transformed payments. Developing India’s own COVID vaccines and landing Chandrayaan-3 near the Moon’s south pole demonstrated PM Modi’s vision of a scientifically capable, self-reliant, Atmanirbhar Bharat.

Private space participation and work in artificial intelligence, quantum technology and biotechnology carry forward the vision celebrated in the resolution: technology improving lives while expanding national possibilities.

Steadfast Leadership Through Turbulent Times

The resolution highlights PM Modi’s ability to give India direction through global upheaval. During COVID, he united the country, backed domestic vaccine development and enabled rapid vaccination.

During the West Asia crisis, timely decisions and energy security measures helped India withstand disruption.

His leadership combined immediate responses with capabilities built over years, giving the country resilience and confidence in difficult times.

Decisive Leadership Secures Peace and Confidence

2016 Surgical strikes, 2019 Balakot Air Strikes and 2025 Operation Sindoor illustrate the national security red lines established under PM Modi.

The resolution places these alongside the removal of Article 370, One Rank One Pension and creation of the Chief of Defence Staff’s post.

Action against Maoist terrorism and peace efforts in the Northeast bring out leadership combining national resolve with development, stability and public trust.

India’s Voice Grows Stronger on the World Stage

The resolution links India’s rising stature with PM Modi’s ability to build cooperation across divisions. Consensus at G20 and BRICS, advocacy for the Global South and the African Union’s G20 inclusion reflect his diplomatic leadership. Vaccine Maitri demonstrated how India’s capabilities could serve others.

Honours from 36 countries underline the international regard accompanying PM Modi and India’s growing influence and contribution to shared solutions.

Progress Draws Strength from Heritage and Responsibility

PM Modi’s vision unites development, cultural confidence and environmental responsibility. Climate action progressed from Gujarat’s dedicated department to renewable energy expansion and international partnerships.

Yoga, millets, Kashi Vishwanath Dham and Ram Lalla’s consecration strengthened India’s connection with its heritage.

The resolution culminates in renewed commitment to his vision of collective effort towards a prosperous, self-reliant and developed India by 2047.

Union Cabinet congratulates Modi for completing 25 years as "Executive Head of any Govt" ... first as Gujarat CM and then as PM :::: Cabinet approves proposal to set up Integrated Transport and Logistics Authority

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw Ashwini Vaishnaw

says :

"Two major decisions were taken. The first is about how a country should plan integrated transport and logistics. This is already being done in several countries around the world.

For this purpose, an institution will be established—a new organization that will carry out this work in a systematic and scientific manner. The second decision concerns our MSME firms. To provide them with the growth capital they need, a fund of ₹10,000 crore will be created."

"Cabinet nods proposal to set up Integrated Transport and Logistics Authority"

Cabinet complimented PM Narendra Modi for taking firm and determined decisions and framing "decisive policies" during challenging times facing the country, the Minister said.

"PM Modi has set a new example on how to unite 140 crore people during crises," he said.

Ashwini Vaishnaw also said:

"MSMEs are very important for employment generation, exports, and manufacturing. For this reason, the Prime Minister has introduced several reforms, one after another, over the past 12 years.

Among the biggest reforms have been aimed at improving the cash flow of MSMEs, particularly by ensuring that payments due to them, which were often delayed, are received on time.

"The definition of MSMEs has also been changed, and steps have been taken to ensure that MSMEs can access loans more easily. The decision taken today is related to the challenges faced by MSMEs in their growth...

"For this purpose, a Rs 10,000 crore MSME Growth Fund will be created. This Growth Fund will be operated in collaboration with the MSME Ministry and the Finance Ministry...".

"Whom does Congress want to help by assuring voting rights to absent, shifted, dead and duplicate voters", says BJP :::::: "People of India have wisdom, knowledge and sense. They know to not vote for dynasty, corruption and people who stand with terrorists"

On INDIA bloc MPs' protest march to Election Commission, BJP national spokesperson and MP Sudhanshu Trivedi says,

"I would like to clearly ask Congress. Who do they want to benefit by giving voting rights to the absent, shifted, dead and duplicate voters without any investigation? Does the Congress want to benefit someone by doing this?"

Sudhanshu Trivedi told a press conference : "...Our main Opposition party Congress' first family had been running a monarchy in the garb of democracy, by actually strangling democracy, for the last four generations.

Today, they attempted to infiltrate Akashvani...".

Earlier, Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and other MPs were briefly detained during the INDIA bloc MPs' protest.

The MPs were later released.

Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, along with LoP, Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi and other MPs were inside the premises of Akashvani Bhavan for sometime.

Sudhanshu Trivedi also said: "I would like to ask how many institutions in the country has Congress made allegations against till date? One dozen? Half a dozen?

Two dozen? From the Indian Army to the Indian Air Force to the country's defence to LIC to HAL to SBI to SEBI to vaccine to judiciary to Indian media - there should be a quiz contest as to how many institutions of India has the Congress, especially Rahul Gandhi, made allegations against.

He even goes abroad and says all this...".

A few NSUI workers enter Akashvani Bhavan as many of them gather outside it; Police tried to prevent them from entering the premises.

On INDIA Bloc's protest march, Smajwadi Party MP Jaya Bachchan said:

"BJP's job to make allegations. They are in power, so they will do that. We are doing our work... We will act according to whatever instructions our party leadership gives us...".  Another Samajwadi Party MP Dharmendra Yadav sad:

"How can BJP talk about the Constitution, when they suspend 150 MPs and pass many laws? Who is BJP to issue clarification on behalf of the Election Commission of India?"

Ahead of INDIA bloc MPs' protest march, BJP national spokesperson and Sambit Patra told journalists:

"It is not Gyanesh ji, but Ganesh (God) ji, who is helping us. BJP is being helped by Ganesh ji - the God of wisdom, knowledge and sense; not Gyanesh ji.

People of India have wisdom, knowledge and sense.

They know to not vote for dynasty, corruption and people who stand with terrorists, those who cannot even tweet for Captain Smit. They know that they have to vote for the one who says, "main desh nahi jhukne doonga."

Jeffrey Archer, bestselling British author and former politician, dies at 86 ::: He was disgraced politician too .... and Margaret Thatcher was swayed by his personality

Celebrated writer Jeffrey Archer’s death came just one day before the publication of his new and last novel, 'Adam and Eve', on Tuesday 6 October.

He was truly, a successful novelist, disgraced politician and convicted liar. Archer's reputation as one of the most colourful figures in British public life did no harm to his literary career.

His 'gift' for storytelling was matched by his wit and boundless energy.

His novel, published in 1984, 'First Among Equals', about a cutthroat competition to become Prime Minister, cemented Archer's position as one of Britain's best-selling and highest earning authors.

It's said, Margaret Thatcher was swayed by his extrovert personality.

Kate Elton, HarperCollins UK’s chief executive and Archer’s editor, said: “It has been one of the great privileges of my publishing life to have been Jeffrey Archer’s editor.

“He was the master storyteller and an editor’s dream – phenomenally hard-working, utterly committed to completing draft after draft to get every word as perfect as possible".

His first novel, 'No
t a Penny More, Not a Penny Less', was published in 1976, two years after bankruptcy marked the end of his time as a sitting MP.

Archer spent a total of 14 years and five months on the Sunday Times bestseller lists and over five years on the New York Times bestseller lists,

He sold 300 million books in 119 countries in 49 languages.

His 1979 novel 'Kane and Abel' remains among the best-selling books in the world, having sold more than 30 million copies to date.

This novel follows a unique storyline wherein in the story portrays parallel lives and bitter sixty-year rivalry of two powerful men born on the exact same day in 1906.

William Lowell Kane is born into immense wealth as the heir to a Boston banking fortune. Abel Rosnovski is born in extreme poverty in Poland, suffering great hardships before immigrating to America.

Their lives cross paths when Kane's bank mercilessly forecloses on a hotel friend who helped Abel, driving the man to suicide and igniting Abel's lifelong quest for revenge.

The novel's title and themes draw directly from the biblical story of Cain and Abel in the Book of Genesis. The ancient text talks about Adam and Eve's first two sons—Cain the farmer and Abel the shepherd.

Archer cast himself as a centrist in parliament, frequently rebelling against the right wing of the Conservative party, but his political career stalled when he became the victim of a fraudulent investment scheme, which left him almost half a million pounds in debt.

He said he would therefore not stand in the 1974 election “due to financial difficulties”.

Archer in 1960

Archer's academic career was undistinguished, and he left school with three O-levels. He did, however, embark on a fitness regime designed to improve his physique after his originally skinny frame led to taunts from fellow pupils.

After school, he drifted. There was a brief spell in the army and then a short course in physical education in America.

He got his chance to 'return' to politics in 1985, when Margaret Thatcher, impressed by his personality, gave him an unpaid job as Deputy Chairman of the Conservative Party with responsibility for fundraising.

His first novel was a direct effort to regain financial control – a move that paid off.

'Not a Penny More, Not a Penny Less' was adapted for radio, and later, for TV. By the mid-1980s Archer had written several successful novels as well as short stories, plays and children’s books.

In 1992, he was offered a peerage by Conservative Prime Minister John Major in recognition for his work with a charity set up to help Kurds who were being oppressed by Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein.

The former Conservative politician Archer was sentenced to four years in jail in 2001 for lying during a high-profile libel case.

Archer, who served as party chairman during the premiership of Margaret Thatcher in the 1980s, was found guilty by the jury at the Old Bailey.

He was asked to pay £175,000 costs within 12 months.

Haven't changed a comma, Election Commission clarify after Supreme Court's remarks on Form 6

Contrary to allegations being made that Form 6 for SIR was altered; the Election Commission has said it had not altered the original Form 6.

But it said that an additional declaration page was added during SIR under a protocol formulated in Bihar last year.

The clarification came as the Opposition turned up the heat after CJI Surya Kant said the Supreme Court had not approved any modified Form 6.

Hours after Chief Justice of India, Surya Kant, observed during a hearing on a petition seeking the prosecution of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar that the Supreme Court had not approved any modified Form 6, sources within the poll body reiterated its official stance, saying that it had not changed even a comma or full stop in the original Form 6.

Sources said the 'protocol' for this was formulated during last year's SIR in Bihar and was subsequently challenged in the Supreme Court.

After hearing the matter, the EC sources said, the court observed that the protocol falls within the ambit of the constitutional powers vested in the Election Commission.

The sources added that the additional declaration was also part of the protocol.

The latest clarification from EC sources came after the Opposition targeted the Election Commission on Monday, following CJI Surya Kant's remarks:

"Any modified Form 6 has not been approved by us. Let's be clear. When the record is produced, we would like to see who has modified."

Interestingly, in a September 28 statement, the Election Commission had said that the declaration attached to Form 6 had been "upheld" by the Supreme Court.

The apex court, however, refused to pass any interim order to suspend Gyanesh Kumar over allegations that he took decisions unilaterally without the consensus of the two other Election Commissioners. The

bench said it would presume that the EC's decisions were in accordance with the law until it received a response.

"The report might be accurate or inaccurate, but we cannot pass an order based on that... We must await their response," CJI Kant said.

The origins of the dispute go back to the EC's June 2025 SIR order, which prescribed an additional declaration, known as Annexure D, alongside Form 6 for new enrolments during the revision exercise.

However, the requirement now under scrutiny appeared later in the online Form 6 process. Introduced in July 2026, it asked applicants to provide information linking themselves or their parents or grandparents to previous SIR electoral rolls.

The timing has become significant because the online requirement was introduced weeks after the Supreme Court delivered its May 27 judgment on the Bihar SIR.

Advocate Gaurish Agni, representing the Election Commission of India (ECI), says,

"This SIR matter continued today, but there was little paucity of time, so the matter could not be argued at much length. It's continuing tomorrow again. But today we have placed before the court the guidelines which are framed by ECI for conducting this SIR.

"These guidelines have been forced from June, right from the Bihar elections, and have been suitably modified for other states, including the state of Goa, and those guidelines are in force, and all the SIRs have been conducted as per those guidelines, which are also issued keeping in mind the electoral rules and the Representation of the People Act provisions.

"We also told the court that the validity of these guidelines was under challenge when the Bihar SIR was challenged before the Supreme Court.

The Supreme Court has observed that the ECI does have the power to issue such guidelines and there is some legitimacy to these guidelines."

“Our fathers sinned ,,, , but we have to bear their iniquities” -- former Nagaland Speaker Z Lohe quotes Bible :::::: He talks about "lies" ::: He points out the 'exploitation' of native Nagas ... :: Says "bona fide citizens of Nagaland are treated to be the secondary citizens"

There is a deliberate pressure in his voice. The pain. Welled up eyes.  He is an angry Naga today.

The statement from Z Lohe, former Speaker, is quite unusual in content. The person I know is a "soft spoken" gentleman and would avoid harsh words even after losing his last castle.

But this time - he has chosen to issue a written statement -- Read on:

"In the event of the water having no mandate to talk about Naga politics, what mandate the fish can have to talk about Naga politics either. This is exactly how these people from Manipur used to rate the Nagas of Nagaland," came his statement in the context of unwarranted words and phrases used against veteran S C Jamir.

Lohe says: "The bona fide citizens of Nagaland are considered and treated to be the secondary citizens by these opportunists as though we are born to serve them.

Yet, these outsiders are emboldened by the local sponsors."  --- This is a veiled attack on his onetime friend and compatriot Neiphiu Rio, the state chief minister.

"In matters of the Naga National Movement, the public is the water and the cadres are the fish. Who survives by whom? By the water the fish survives. Look at the recent smack of the two NSCN (IM) leaders, namely, VS Atem and Raising at Dr SC Jamir, the former CM and former Governor saying the latter has no legitimacy to talk about Naga politics," Lohe explained.

He referred to the financial matters and adds:

"The State Government has availed loans under the guise of physical developments from many financial institutes.

I believe the loan dues with the principle and the interest must have been accrued, possibly, to the tune of thousands of crore. “Our fathers sinned and are no more, but we have to bear their iniquities” (Lamentations 5:7). It is definitely impossible for the borrower to clear the loans in those banks during their tenure of holding the office. This immense financial burden is to be passed on to the future leaders, the next generation to bear.

Not only the existing generation but including the future generation is robbed by the exploiters."

Lohe refers to Chief Minister's Aug 15 speech wherein a claim was made a Ministerial level panel has been constituted by the centre to take forward the pending parleys.

"The said announcement of the Chief Minister was a total lie. The NSCN (IM)’s claim of Ajit Lal’s appointment as the Interlocutor too is a total lie.

Ajit Lal has replaced R K Mishra, and thus Ajit remains to be the Advisor, North East as his predecessor held it as before.

The CM’s claim and the NSCN (IM)’s claim are not accidental but indeed both are intentional bearing much implications.," he said.

The former Law Minister also says:

"These white lies are the very specimen of how these type of leaders and the very type of the pseudo Naga national workers have jointly been subjugating the common man of Nagaland to their whims all these years since from 2003."

Then he maintains:

"When I speak the truth about their anti-Nagaland people activities, I am branded as anti-Naga nationalism and its unity.

Whereas, when the Nagas in particular and the indigenous citizens of Nagaland in general are mistreated, harassed, intimidated, threatened and illegally taxed by the exploiters, it is patriotism and those patriots are sacrificing their lives for the Naga unity.

"This is the neo-Naga-culture invented and established by the opposition less NPF Government.

Nevertheless, the locals preferred to remain subservient to the exploiters, what else one can do.

May God remember the few remnants upholding the truth."  --

There is a tone of helplessness in the voice of a great fighter. It speaks of his frustration and actually shows how the Naga society is losing confidence in itself.

Lohe, however, is candid --

"Not every cadre, and obviously not those cadres from Nagaland in NSCN (IM), but the higher echelons in this group love the existing status of ceasefire with the GoI and the indefinite political negotiation which is their paradise.

"The strategy of the higher echelons, the sole decision makers, is how to prolong the process of negotiations by invoking unpractical agenda as to intricate the process.

The longer the negotiation is prolonged, the wealthier the higher echelons become at the very cost of the indigenous citizens of Nagaland.

"These decision makers are no more fighting for the Nagas but they strive to retain the status quo so as to continue their exploit of the people of Nagaland in connivance with the present State Govt."

"We are unfortunate that we have this set of leaders as national cadres who are laced with avarice, malice and prejudice towards their own brethren.

As long as we remain under their command, we can hardly become a blessed community since God hates dishonesty," says former Speaker.

American columnist George Will once said – columnists must have three seductive skills – he must be pleasurable, concise and gifted at changing the subject frequently.

Has the Naga society reached such a stage ?
