OPERATION SINDOOR : Shortly after the strikes, NSA Ajit Doval spoke with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and briefed him

Three locations have been attacked, Pakistan's military says.

It says seven people killed.

Residents in Muzaffarabad in Pakistan-administered Kashmir told the BBC how they were jolted awake by huge explosions

Shortly after the strikes, NSA Ajit Doval spoke to US NSA and Secretary of State Marco Rubio and briefed him on the actions taken by Indian armed forces.

A statement from Indian embassy in the US said - Terrorists killed 26 civilians in Jammu & Kashmir on April 22 in a brutal and heinous attack.

"India has credible leads, technical inputs, testimony of the survivors and other evidence pointing towards the clear involvement of Pakistan-based terrorists in this attack."

"It was expected that Pakistan would take action against terrorists and the infrastructure that supports them. Instead, during the fortnight that has gone by, Pakistan has indulged in denial and made allegations of false flag operations against India," it said.

"I am monitoring the situation between India and Pakistan closely. I echo @POTUS (President Trump) 's comments earlier today that this hopefully ends quickly and will continue to engage both Indian and Pakistani leadership towards a peaceful resolution," Marco Rubio wrote in his post on X.

The Indian statement also said - "India’s actions have been focused and precise. They were measured, responsible and designed to be non-escalatory in nature".

No Pakistani civilian, economic or military targets have been hit. Only known terror camps were targeted.

(Aptly named Operation Sindoor as terrorists had targeted Hindu men and the April 22, 2025 tragedy had left several Hindu women wailing as their husbands were killed mercilessly and without any provocation.

This response under such an Operation is very apt and thoughtful move by Indian authorities.

 PRESS RELEASE

OPERATION SINDOOR : INDIAN ARMED FORCES CARRIED OUT PRECISION STRIKE AT TERRORIST CAMPS

Posted On: 07 MAY 2025 1:44AM by PIB Delhi

A little while ago, the Indian Armed Forces launched ‘OPERATION SINDOOR’, hitting terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir from where terrorist attacks against India have been planned and directed.

Altogether, nine (9) sites have been targeted.

Our actions have been focused, measured and non-escalatory in nature. No Pakistani military facilities have been targeted. India has demonstrated considerable restraint in selection of targets and method of execution.

These steps come in the wake of the barbaric Pahalgam terrorist attack in which 25 Indians and one Nepali citizen were murdered. We are living up to the commitment that those responsible for this attack will be held accountable.

There will be detailed briefing on ‘OPERATION SINDOOR’, later today.

On #OperationSindoor,

US Congressman Thanedar says, "India has the right to defend itself after what happened in Pahalgam... Terrorists were focused on making sure the people they're killing are Hindus...

Now that India has started to target the infrastructure of the terrorists and planned 9 such attacks, so India has the right to defend itself.

India has a right to retaliate for what appears to be barbaric acts...

I'm urging that United States supports India at this difficult time...First of all, the United States must recognise India's right to protect its people and its territory.

Secondly, the United States must encourage a thorough and complete investigation about the terrorist attack...".

Air India diverts two international flights

Two Air India international flights en route to Amritsar are being diverted to Delhi, the airline has announced.

The airline has said it has cancelled all flights to and from Jammu, Srinagar, Leh, Jodhpur, Amritsar, Bhuj, Jamnagar, Chandigarh and Rajkot until midday local time on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, in a statement Qatar Airways says it has temporarily suspended flights to Pakistan.

'The Guardian', London reported:

Cross border firing continued across the line of control between parts of Pakistan and India administered Kashmir, after Indian airstrikes inside Pakistan.

Jawad Ahmed Paras, from Neelum Valley in Pakistan administered Kashmir told the Guardian that the cross-border firing is going on without any pause. Mortar shells are being fired from both sides on checkpoints.

Paras said “the loud explosions have been heard in the valley since the Indian airstrikes. Everyone is awake and very worried. We don’t know what will happen tomorrow. Some people who had built shelters and bunkers have moved to them. None has seen such severe firings over two decades.”

After the Indian airstrikes, we are terrified. We can’t sleep tonight. None can sleep when the mortars are fired and everyone is worried about his life.”
