H C Vanlalruata on Facebook: When we were in Middle School, that also in the outskirts of Aizawl which was like a remote village, we knew where Trivandrum or even Lakshadweep and Diu was. After going to Delhi for the first time in 1979 (while in college), nobody knew where Mizoram was. I was completely taken aback. Even when we were working at the PTI Head Office at 4, Parliament Street in Delhi during 1998 as a probationer, I found that some of our colleagues from the cow (dung) belt thought that northeast was a state and one of our editors asked me to edit a story sent from Nagaland! Those so-called elite and educated groups of people did not know that Nagaland and Mizoram was a different state like UP and Gujarat. Shameful.
