Pakistan will be judged internationally not merely by words, but actions: India

Hours after Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan made a strong case for peace and said no act of terrorism will be allowed in his country, India snubbed him by questioning the very credibility of authorities in Islamabad and said 'Naya Pakistan' should display 'new actions'.

"Is Pakistan defending the Jaish-e-Mohammed and acting as its spokesperson? Does Pakistan's claim have any credibility," MEA spokesman Raveesh Kumar told reporters on Saturday in reference to Pakistani foreign minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi's interview to western media.
"If Pakistan claims to be a "Naya Pakistan with nayi soch”, it should show "naya action” against terrorist groups and terror infrastructure on its soil and end cross border terrorism in support of its claims," he said.

The terse remarks came in reference to Imran Khan's statement on Friday - that - "....his government will not allow Pakistan’s soil to be used for any type of terrorism outside the country. We will not allow any militant group to function in our country". MEA spokesman said: "The proof of actions (from Pak) is not in issuing statements or notification in the gazette. But it is in the dismantling of actual infrastructures of terror".

To a question whether India expects Pakistan to handover Hafiz Saeed and Masood Azhar, MEA spokesman said, a media conference will not be proper platform to spell out each and every actions, New Delhi is expecting Islamabad to deliver.

"Pakistan is well aware of its commitment. They are also aware of the concrete actions they are supposed to take. This is not a forum to deal with each and every actions they should do to take care of the legitimate concerns of international community and India," Mr Kumar said.
"This (lack of seriousness in dealing with terror by Pakistan) has been proved over last so many years. If you look at the reactions, if you look at the statements coming out of Pakistan during previous terrorists attacks, you will see a very similar pattern. Now, Pakistan will be judged not by the words which they speak, but by the actions they take," he said.
The spokesman said in 2004, the then President of Pakistan had made a solemn public commitment that they would not allow any territory under their control to be used for terrorist activity in any manner. "But till today, however, Pakistan has failed to take any credible action against Jaish-e-Mohammed and other terrorist organizations, which continue to operate with impunity from Pakistan".

"Since 26 February, following demands from the international community, Pakistan is again claiming to take fresh action against terror groups on its soil. In an interview to CNN on 28 February, the Foreign Minister of Pakistan has said, and I quote "Well, he is (Masood Azhar) in Pakistan according to my information” unquote. Claims are being made that terrorist organizations will be proscribed, that some individuals have been placed in preventive detention and that some action has been taken against seminaries and Madarsas belonging to terrorist groups," the MEA statement said.

"It is regrettable that Pakistan is still continuing to deny Jaish-e-Mohammad's own claim of taking the ownership of Pulwama attack," he said.
Mr Kumar said - "We are seeing the same script that has been played out earlier after the terrorist attacks on our Parliament in December 2001, the Mumbai terrorist attack in November 2008 and the attack on Pathankot airbase in January 2016'.

Pakistan claims to proscribe groups and individuals, but this is confined only on paper. Actually, terrorist groups and individuals continue their activities without hindrance. Pakistan has not shown any serious intent to address the legitimate concerns of India and the global community, he said.
MEA spokesman further said - "We remain resolute in our determination to persuade the international community of the necessity of compelling Pakistan to move beyond mere words and to show credible, verifiable and sustained actions".
India, he said, "....have and will continue to act with responsibility and maturity".

After Imran's anti terror talks: India says 'Naya Pakistan' must display 'new actions'

The international community and the government of India are well aware of lack of seriousness on the part of Pakistan to hold on to their commitment to fight terror menace and hence now Pakistan will be judged mot merely by words but by the actions they take.
"This (lack of seriousness) has been proved over last so many years. If you look at the reactions, if you look at the statements coming out of Pakistan during previous terrorists attacks, you will see a very similar pattern. Now, Pakistan will be judged not by the words which they speak, but by the actions they take" MEA spokesman Raveesh Kumar told reporters here.
On reports about Pakistan authorities denying access to western media journalists visiting Balakot, he said - "The fact that Pakistan has now refused access to journalists from visiting the site means that they have plenty to hide.
"So the initial bravado (they made), everything is open, please come and visit - that has disappeared," he said.

As regard Indian attack on February 26, he said New Delhi is absolutely confident that the strike on Balakot camps has been "successful".
".....we achieved the desired objectives".
"They are aware about what they are expected to do," he remarked.
He said - "It is regrettable that Pakistan is still continuing to deny Jaish-e-Mohammad's own claim of taking the ownership of Pulwama attack".
"The proof of actions (from Pak) is not in issuing statements or notification in the gazette. But it is in the dismantling of actual infrastructures of terror," he said.
These actions should be "on the ground" and also ought to be "verified".
"I am sure Pakistan is well aware of its commitments and the concrete actions it has to undertake," Mr Kumar said.
Answering questions, MEA spokesman said Indian Air Force has achieved its target vis-a-vis February 26 areial strike at Balakot in Pakistan in terms of destroying the terror camps.
However, despite a volley of questions - he declined into a debate on numbers or how many terrorists have been killed during aerial strike.
"Pakistan should explain why it continues to deny that its F-16 aircraft has been shot down (by Wing Commander Abhinandan)," he said.
"We have asked United States to examine if the use of F16 against India by Pakistan is according to their terms and conditions of its sale," he said.

"We have also shared evidence in the form of parts of AMRAAM missile which were recovered from the site and were only carried by F-16 aircraft of the PAF," he said.
India's non-military strike has "demonstrated our firm resolve to take decisive action" against cross border terrorism," he said.
He repeated that only one MiG 21 Bison aircraft was lost by India during Pakistan's misadventure at targeting Indian military installations in the northern sector on February 27 - a day after India carried out aerial strike at Balakot terror camp.

He said Pakistan-based terror groups were conducting their activities without any hindrance.
The MEA spokesman maintained there has been hardly any credible action taken by Pakistan yet against terror infrastructures.
".....If Pakistan claims to be ‘Naya Pakistan’, it should display ‘Naya Action’ against terror groups on its soil," he said.

Saudi MoS Foreign Affairs arriving India, but 'no mediation' on Indo-Pak ties: MEA

New Delhi, Mar 9 (UNI) Amid India's repeated insistence that there are no offers for 'mediation' in parleys with Pakistan, Saudi Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Adel-Al Jubeir will arrive New Delhi on Monday and meet with Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj.

"Saudi Minister of State for Foreign Affairs will visit India on Monday and will meet External Affairs Minister. My understanding is he is visiting to discuss some important follow ups from the recent visit of Saudi Crown prince," MEA spokesman Raveesh Kumar told reporters here.

Beyond that, details can be known only after the visit and meeting between two leaders, he said.

The Saudi leader's visit to India on Monday is being seen with keenness as during Al-Jubeir’s visit to Islamabad, he has “assured (Pakistan’s) Foreign Minister of the (Saudi) Kingdom's support to seek peaceful settlement of all outstanding disputes between Pakistan and India".

Answering questions, the spokesman said, "frankly there have been no offer for mediation from any country, not from Saudi not from any country.....and I think our (Indian government's) position is very clear on this".

On March 5, the government of India indicated that it is rejoicing the fact that pressure is being built up gradually on Pakistan.

India's diplomatic efforts after Pulwama terror attack and since February 26 aerial strike have evoked "solid support" for India but to suggest that some countries have come forward and offered 'mediation' role will be completely falsehood, a key government source has said here.
"Let us make it very clear. We are not looking for mediation (between India and Pakistan). No body has offered us mediation," the source said.

The sources also maintained that various global leaders have spoken to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj.....there have been solid support but there is no talk of mediation.
In contrast, Pakistan is the one which is looking for immediate 'intervention' of a third party, the source has said.

Kartarpur talks are no resumption of dialogues with Pakistan: MEA

New Delhi, Mar 9 (UNI) India on Saturday made it categorically clear that Kartarpur talks scheduled to be held on March 14 have nothing to do with resumption of talks with Pakistan.

"Let me make it very clear that Kartarpur talks are not in any way related to resumption of dialogues...It is related to emotions and sentiments of Indian citizens and our decision to meet reflects our strong commitment to operationalise Kartarpur sahab corridor," MEA spokesman Raveesh Kumar told reporters here.

Pakistan has earlier cast some doubts on the meeting, but India never spoke on these lines, he said.
"You have to understand, this has nothing to do with resumption of talks. This is to respect the sentiments of the Sikh citizens...This has been a long pending demand and this meeting (of March 14) is going to only address that part," Mr Kumar said.

A Pakistani delegation is arriving Attari for talks on Kartarpur corridor on March 14 and an Indian team is likely to visit Pakistan for another round of meeting later this month.
However, no final decision has been taken on the dates yet, sources said. In a statement on March 6, MEA has also stated that - "India has also proposed that a technical level discussion on the alignment of the corridor be held on the same day on the sidelines of this meeting".
