The BJP on Sept 25 Tuesday stepped up attack against Congress party for its alleged proximity with 'arms dealer Sanjay Bhandari - an associate of Robert Vadra' - and alleged that even Rafale aircraft deal related papers were recovered by government agencies during raids in 2016.
"After Modi government came to power, we started action against Sanjay Bhandari and his company. Starting as Rs 1 lakh worth company, Offset India Solutions slowly turned big with Robert Vadra's help. There were raids in 18 places across India in 2016 and important papers including on Rafale were recovered," BJP spokesman Sambit Patra told reporters here.
The documents also included 'confidential documents of Ministry of Defence'. "The papers also included proposals to buy mid-air refuellers and defence acquisition council papers. There were minutes of deliberations of the Contract Negotiations Committee".
"Our sources say even papers related to Rafale deal were recovered from Robert Vadra's friend Sanjay Bhandari, who is also close to the Gandhi family," he said adding "how these papers reached Bhandari remains a matter of concern". The BJP spokesman further said the papers also establish the relations between Bhandari, Vadra and Vadra's assistant Manoj Arora.
The email trail of Exim Real Estate also recovered show that an estate worth Rs 19 crore 'purchased' by Bhandari's associate in London for Mr Vadra.
"It was a Rs 19 crore gift from the arms dealer Sanjay Bhandari.....," he alleged. The BJP spokesman also maintained that it is paradoxical that those who were busy looting the country for years are today raising fingers at "Prime Minister Narendra modi, who comes from a humble background and has taken a pledge to fight corruption". "The Congress party will be exposed today," he said, adding contrary to the repeated allegations made by Congress president Rahul Gandhi that the NDA regime did not promote or looked after the interest of PSU HAL, the BJP spokesman said instead it was Congress-led UPA that deprived the government run company the contracts during their stint in power.
"Today, we expose Rahul Gandhi....," he remarked adding Pilatus Aircraft were purchased in 2012
